"Bang-Rajan" is awesome. I watched it like 2 years or so ago when the German DVD was released. Stupid fools released it either in Thai or with a German dub. Now the reason they are stupid fools is that they forgot to add subtitles.
As for the film itself... it is an awesome film, the only problem I had was that I couldn't tell some of the villagers apart from each other. They all have the same beards etc... really weird. Guess I'll need a second view.

Depends where they got/get the print from? If it's from Media Asia then it won't be HD and if it's Fortune Star then it will be.I doubt COF will be a FS remaster.
That's not HKL's fault though. I'm sure it'll look better than the old Mei Ah at least. If OC is not from FS then the PQ won't be as good so something else to complain about ;-D .

Yes it is.bradavon wrote:

It's "Wong Fei-Hung '92 "
Actually I've always known this movie as "WFH 92".
"The Master" doesn't ring a bell to me.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

"Wong Fei Hung '92" is the Chinese retitle. What I meant was that the only English title I know of is "The Master".Actually I've always known this movie as "WFH 92". "The Master" doesn't ring a bell to me.
Shot in 1989 on the back of "Dragon Fight", "The Master" was shelved until mid-1992 when it was retitled (in Chinese) to cash-in on the success of "Once Upon a Time in China I/II" (which are of course known in Cantonese as "Wong Fei Hung I/II")
Maybe in France (that's where you're from right, Tom?) they used the Cantonese title?

Hey,
According to the latest HKL newsletter (24 Feb 2005), here are the release dates for the next few months:
Odd Couple 7th March
The Master 28th March*
Duel to the Death 4th April*
City on Fire 25th April*
Millionaires Express 16th May*
My Wife is a Gangster Platinum Edition 23rd May*
Jackie Chan - Project A Box set 13th June*
Dragons Forever Platinum Edition 27th June*
Project A Box set - just the old, old discs packaged in a box...?
I'll give that a miss thanks.
Looking forward to DF, ME and Odd Couple
Is The Master any good? I think it was the 1st (?) WFH film to star Jet Li, (confusingly, OUATIC was the 2nd in 1991). As Mark said, it was shelved until 1992.

Maybe they're going to use the Fortune Star transfers? Otherwise why bother?grim_tales wrote:Project A Box set - just the old, old discs packaged in a box...?I'll give that a miss thanks.
It's alright if you're expectations aren't high.Is The Master any good?
This movie has NOTHING whatsoever to do with Wong Fei Hung. It was just what they retitled the movie in Chinese to cash-in on OUATIC (part 2 of which was released only a few weeks before The Master).I think it was the 1st (?) WFH film to star Jet Li, (confusingly, OUATIC was the 2nd in 1991). As Mark said, it was shelved until 1992.

Yes, it's a '12'. Same rating as given for the old Eastern Heroes tape.grim_tales wrote:Will Odd Couple really be a "12"?The cover on the HKL site has a BBFC "12" on it.
Sometimes the submissions don't show up until after the discs release... packaging approval is required for one thing. But I'd say with some certainty the movie will be passed uncut. The video cuts (5 secs of shuriken use) are no longer applicable under 1999's revised guidelines. While we're at it, isn't Duel To The Death censored in the UK ? I haven't seen a re-submittal for classification in the BBFC site so far...
As for the cover art... Duel to the Death and City on Fire are just fine. But The Master is poor, reusing the central image from their Hitman DVD.

I hope The Master is better than Dragon Fight which was pretty good but not great (it's as good as Hitman). It looks much better going by the trailer. I've only seen Dragon Fight with a dreadful WB English dub though.
They're cheaper too for people who don't own the films. If I didn't already own PA and I wanted it plus PA2 I'd prefer the box set. I don't like box sets that put to unconnected films together though (Musa/Bichunmoo for example).
I really can't see that. Why spend money re-releasing a DVD that to most people is fine anyway. It's more likely for the reasons I've mentioned below.Markgway wrote:Maybe they're going to use the Fortune Star transfers? Otherwise why bother?
I'm sure The Master is it's Disney re-title and for once it's better. WFH 92 is a dreadful title for a film that has nothing to do with WFH. The Master is still dreadful too though.Tom2681 wrote:Actually I've always known this movie as "WFH 92". The Master" doesn't ring a bell to me.

Opinion is divided, but I'd say 'The Master' is the better of the two. But I prefer 'The Hitman' to both.I hope The Master is better than Dragon Fight which was pretty good but not great (it's as good as Hitman).
The English dub title is, I believe, called 'The Defector'. Or something very close.I've only seen Dragon Fight with a dreadful WB English dub though.
I can assure you it's not. It's the one title Disney left relatively alone, except for adding Jet Li's possessive.I'm sure The Master is it's Disney re-title
I fear you may be right...They're cheap to produce and people love box sets.
