Holy Sh*t Play have killed off HKL's website! ;-)

Post by grim_tales »

Hey,

I found all this at the HKL site on the December 10 update...

The Warrior Collection Boxset: -Out Jan 2005
Two of Premier Asia's most popular titles, Bichunmoo and The Warrior, in a special collector's edition 4-disc boxset with all-new dedicated packaging. Guaranteed to be one of our most popular boxsets of 2005!

Is this really necessary? Not IMO, most people have those titles already and theyre just the seperate PA DVDs in a box

Bang Rajan: 2 Disc Special Collector's Edition -Out Feb 2005
A feature-packed Collector's edition offering exclusive interviews with cast and crew, A Bang Rajan retrospective, trailers, EPK, feature-length audio commentary and much more!

I cant wait for this one.

Dragons Forever: 2 Disc Platinum Edition -Out: March 2005.
A long-awaited fan-favourite featuring interviews, out-takes, featurettes and an exclusive Fight Night showcase with villainous co-star, Billy Chow. Not to be missed!

I also heard they would release Duel To the Death in March 2005, this will have a HD transfer like Dragons Forever.

Duel to the Death

You have been asking for it, and now it’s coming! Ching Siu-tung’s seminal swordplay adventure will finally be released on Hong Kong Legends during March 2005. Special features include a brand-new HD transfer, interviews with Tsui Siu-keung, Damian Lau and Casanova Wong, and an exclusive featurette exploring the celebrated art of Hong Kong wire-assisted fight action.

Thai Breaker

We are delighted to announce that we have acquired the Rights to the hot new action-extravaganza, Tom Yum Goong, starring Thai boxing sensation, Tony Jaa. The movie is currently filming in Australia, and the advance footage looks absolutely amazing! The title will follow our 2005 release of Tony’s breakthrough project, Ong Bak. Both coming soon on Premier Asia!

Why havent they released Platinum DM yet?!? I think the secret JC film they have is New Police Story...

:D

"Duel to the Death" is to many people over-rated. I can't see why...?

Did anyone else get the last HKL update, the questionnaire about "Would you like to see an HKL TV channel" or something?

I'm sure I filled in the questionnaire but I didnt get my £3 voucher as I was supposed to? :(

On the left below the options "Premier Asia" "Pre-orders" and "Webring" when you enter the site there is something that says "Join Our Mailing List Here!" and you enter your e-mail address in the box. :)

Here are the cover arts for those who haven't seen them on the official site. Both DVDs should be out in March.

i'll be honest - Duel To The Death bored me to tears. It was just a cheesy flick with pretty poor action and it felt like an eternity just to get to the climactic scene - id rather see Magnificent Bodyguards get a release (that was cheesy but class! - though they have to keep the original artwork from the UK VHS sleeve where a drawing of Jackie Chan had the most ridiculous amount of defined abdominals i've ever seen.

Warriors Two is now up for pre-order at Play, for £12.99 so expect CD-WOW to get it for £9.99 :D

Interestingly, there looks to be a meaty making of among the extras instead of the usual interviews.

I think HKL will use a HD print on this DVD as well, cool :D

On Play they say Bang-Rajan is 7 hours (!?!) That must include the 5 hours or so extras???

I was sure I read on HKL's website that Warriors two would have a HD print/transfer.

Yep, in an earlier news piece, they say "Dragons Forever" and "Warriors Two" will be both feature packed and will also showcase our first collabaration with Fortune Star. This new agreement will allow us to obtain access to high-definition masters, not previously available to us in our agreement with Media Asia"

They'll probably make up their own extras for Bang Rajan. According to Play Bang-Rajan has Thai 5.1 and DTS. I wonder who they'll get to commentate on it? Maybe not Bey or Mike Leeder, are they clued up on Thai cinema?

That said Bey said some early Shaw Bros commentaries and he was OK on them, IMO.

He is Clued up on pretty much all asian cinema, just he know and is an expert in the HK department, he seems to still know more than any normal person about other countries films thats for sure :)

Warriors two is gonna be one film I await more than any other HKL film, I cannot wait!

Totally agree with G. This flick was absolutely fucking boring and just downright CRAP. I didnt care for any of the people in it, and the action scenes were horrible. I guess some people get off just because some arms etc get chopped off, but that does nothing for me personaly.

I'm sure it will be Bey Logan and maybe someone else. He isn't clued up on Japanese cinema but does a solo commentary on "The Grudge".
He is definitely on the commentary of "Bang Rajan". He told me about it when I was in HK. He said that he got so mixed up with all the Thai actors' names because they are so hard to pronounce for him. I think Mike Leeder joined him.

Future HKL Releases

Post by grim_tales »

Hey,

I found some information about future HKL releases on a HKL forum, the one run by Chen Lung (Scott) at ADVDG.

The ones with definite dates are:
Warriors Two (24th January 2005).
Dragons Forever - Platinum (7th March 2005).
Odd Couple (14th March 2005).
Duel to the Death (March 2005).
Jackie Chan Box Set containing 'Police Story', 'Police Story 2' and 'Crime Story' (25th April 2005).*
Wheels on Meals (July 2005).

*Pointless IMO, why dont they release newer discs instead of an older ones in a box???

I've never seen Odd Couple or Wheels on Meals, so looking forward to them. :D

And DM/SITES WILL be re-released as Platinums definitely but nothing else is known yet. When HKL release DM they MUST include the fantastic MIHK dub, I love that dub :D

When are they going to release the secret Chan film they were talking about?! :D

Here's the HKL questionnaire I was telling you about, you have to enter your e-mail address to access it.

"Your favorite films, documentaries, extras and loads more on satellite TV"

Could be interesting. Wont they just be broadcasts of the DVDs though, so to speak?

Is there a list somewhere showing the films HKL have the rights to? Now the one at old Bullets is gone.

Who's the only mod who does any work around here? ;) :D

LOL it asks: "Do you have any of the following in your home:"

But then only lets you choose one. It also says: "Would you pay for a dedicated HKL channel, if so how much would you be prepared to pay per month?"

I may pay under a tenner but not over so what do I choose?

How do they know this? Not that's it's new news. We've known for months it's coming.

Personally I'd much prefer they get on and release some of the Media Asia films they had because of that huge deal from a few years ago.

Such as ABT2 for example.

Blimey that's old news. I forgot about that. I wonder what the film is?

New Police Story? Hmmm...
I'm happy with the IVL set of the ABT films so I'm not bothered about AB2 HKL ;)

It was announced way before this was even made.

I suspect I'll be the same. They're not getting ABT and the AB DVD isn't all that IMO.
