Does the US TC have nanchakus?
I thought originally the TC was cut in some places anyway other than the nanchakus (in the UK).

I remember seeing it. It had a Warner logo on the back too. I'm sure they were all barebones.

I had no idea some where magazine exclusives though, how dumb!

Except the Non-English HK/Korean DVDs, they're all the Extended Cut right?

Yeah, which besides having the Monk scene (where Bruce is dubbed by John Little), is also missing two music cues (though it gains one, oddly enough)

I don't mind the Monk scene personally.

I don't mind the scene in itself but

it slows the pace down
the dubbing for Bruce is awful, especially considering an audio recording exists of Bruce reading the lines for that scene!

Only HKL would be dumb enough to use a cut version of ETD.

This is the kind of situation I find worrying: when an original theatrical cut of a classic film gets "lost" in favour of a bogus director's/special/extended/unrated edition.

ETD as we originally saw it doesn't exist on DVD (and now the BD likewise).

You have to see the 1993 NTSC LD/VHS releases for the last time it was made available.

And I haven't even mentioned the absence of mono...

Truly a sad situation.

They may not have. The magazine range was put out by a magazine publisher using HKL content. It may not have been HKL who created it.

It is annoying. Decent quality versions of both cuts should always be made available.

I didn't know that. It should've been used instead then.

Perhaps... seems odd though that the mag would use only one non-HKL title without their input. How hard would it have been to get an uncut print from Warners then assuming they were supplied direct? Either way SOMEONE fucked up!

I even considered hunting down an NTSC VHS purely for sake of posterity! How sad is that?

John Little reportedly has an ego. There was nothing wrong with the original audio track. The original vocal for that scene was even commited to album donkey's ago.

To put it in context it was a cheap magazine that I doubt many people bought. It struck me as one of those magazine deals whereby the first issue is cheap, it then shoots up in price and then no one buys it. In short I seriously doubt they cared or had the knowledge of HK cinema to know.

I'm not disagreeing just saying I'm not at all surprised to hear it was cut.

Yeah. I don't think the monk's voice is Roy Chiao but it does sound like it was done in 73. Don't know why, just feels that way

I wonder if Warners just gave them left over discs from the 1999 UK DVD

Not to my knowledge

If you turn on the foreign language tracks on the WB DVD, you can hear the music cues as they appeared in the theatrical cut

Roy revoiced his lines shortly before he died. Thus it's him, but not his original reading.

Because the bloody dubs are in MONO(!)

Ah cool. It didn't sound much like he did in Bloodsport!

Yeah, ironic. And pathetic. They could have put the theatrical cut on the 2nd disc of the DVD but NOOOO, they had to stick on the already avaliable Warrior's Journey!

I don't mind the monk scene TBH, AFAIK Bruce wanted it there and was disappointed when "philosphical" areas were cut (according to Linda Lee's DVD intro). He did dub it himself I'm sure (don't know why Little dubbed him).
Bey does a far better Bruce Lee :D

Yeah, but Bruce wasn't the writer or director. And ENTER wasn't the appropriate place for a long-winded discussion on martial arts philosphy. It's a chop-socky remake of Dr. No! I love the movie... but it's hardly deep.

Was shot sync-sound as per American filmmaking practice. Bruce did do the ADR where necessary however before he died thus the soundtrack was complete. Little likes the sound of his own voice.
