Hmm, fingers crossed that Miramax had the international cut of Dragons Forever!

I've seen a few of these on TV, including Dragons Forever. It was the international print with English opening and end titles.

The UK Dragons Forever is already excellent. I cannot see them beating it.

It's good to see some of the other get hopefully improved DVDs though. This is very good news indeed. I still find it weird that Miramax never bothered to release them and as such didn't try to sell them sooner.

This may even mean BDs too!

Any Dragons Forever could be improved upon by incorpoarating the two psychiatrist sequences back into the film. They were present in the English version, and do exist in Cantonese, as seen on the bonus features on the HKL dvd

I watched those deleted scenes and while they help to flesh out Yuen Biao's character I didn't think their inclusion would help the film.

Why not? I thought they were pretty funny

The reason they aren't in most versions is that they were cut from theatre prints to shorten the film a bit

Those two scenes are vital to understanding Biao's character and their inclusion is necessary.

Ironically HKL included them on their DVD as an extra but with Cantonese mono which means that they could've re-edited them back into the film. Seamless branching would've worked fine and been easy as the scenes are self-contained.

Not all companies can do seamless branching.

Because they aren't especially funny and would just serve to make the film longer.

It's not that difficult surely?

To me they are funny and even with their inclusion the film would only run 98m @ 24fps. So bollocks! 8)

I'm not sure but the fact only a handful of companies have ever used it must mean something. I can think of Artisan (T2) and Fox (Alien box set). I'm sure there's 1-2 I'm forgetting but not many.

Most opt for Integrated branching (MGM with Robocop) which always look awful, to the point you wish they hadn't bothered. No BD/HD-DVD has used seamless branching yet.

I like them "as deleted scenes".

What about Spider-Man 2/2.1?

P.S. The theatrical version of Dragons Forever is the director's cut as far as I know.

Is that seamless branching? I don't know about that one.

IIRC there are no DVD pressing factories that can create seamless branched discs in the UK, maybe none in Europe. There are even very few in America.

I'd rather they did the longer version with the psych scenes. Anyone who wants the shorter version can get the HKL

I'm pretty sure the HK Vidéo versions of Tai-Chi Master and Fist of Legend have seamless branching.
Same video file for both the shortened US cuts and the HK cuts.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Yeah, you choose whether you want to watch the theatrical version or the special version, and then the Blu-ray integrates the relevant scenes seamlessly (which is standard for Blu-rays featuring multiple cuts, just like the layer change is seamless on BDs unlike DVDs).

Could be a factory in Europe then. Maybe the old news that few factories can do seamless branching was BS in the first place.

Yuen Biao scenes explain why he wants to kill Pauline Yeung.

With Final Cut Studio, you can make discs that include seamless branching, I don't see why everyone makes an ugly tit out of something that could be so simple.
