The R2 appears sharper, but I think that's edge-enhancement.

The R1 has corrected colours (no pink!)

Heard that the subs on the R1 aren't much good though (compared to HKL).

Yeah, HKL has a worse image, but subtitles are retranslated.

Extras on both discs are of a good offering, but the Sammo interview and Bey commentary could be interesting to compare.

The R1 looks better to me, no yucky pink.

Yeah, I've always hated the HKL image, always looked edge-enhanced and pink.

Don't like the film either, but I am due to re-watch it of course incase I missed on something :).

definitely true. R2 goes out to translate the amount of words equaling the amount of words in the subs and they make more sense. R1 translates less words while leaving out the rest unsubbed. This subtitling can be seen on other DD titles (such as Righting Wrongs).
Extras on both discs are of a good offering, but the Sammo interview and Bey commentary could be interesting to compare.
I think I'd choose the R2 commentary. Bey explains a literal line (similar to Dick Wei's famous line in Heart of Dragon) from Yuen Biao which was translated poorly on both releases (R1 comes close though) and takes place after Biao is thrown off the vehicle. Other than that, the extras on R1 are way superior (just for the deleted scenes alone).

Blasphemer! :D

I guess I'll stick with the R2 (for the subs).

Mind you, if the R1 falls into my lap at some stage, I may reconsider...

Well, at least it's better than being called a "faggot" again :).

I remember bringing up the "pink" on the HKL only to have one of the users at ADG tell me it was "color correction".

The HKL transfer reminds me of DD's Police Story: pink, over-sharpened and grainy.

The HKL has terrible edge-enhancement and is pinkified, but I enjoyed Logan's commentary a lot. Wasn't too fond of the movie at first, but after watching it with Logan's motormouth in the background I liked it a lot better.

Where can I get the German disc.

Watched the HKL for first time in 5 years (dunno why, it's a great movie) and boy, the transfer is horrible!
