This comparison is dedicated to TLD.

Both have the same subtitle translation. The R3HK has a bitrate well, well above the R1's but it really doesn't show very much - and it's cropped, still the grain and lack of artefacts it allows make it a winner.

Thank you very much for this particular comparison. You've finally put to bed the lingering mystery surrounding the HK LE.

P.S. Why have you posted the "Chang Chen eating" caps twice? A mistake?

The R3 is the choice to go for then? Is it now available outside the ridiculous 'lamp' set!?

This is flipping fantastic thanks Lourdes.

Do I presume correctly you've used a DVD9 bootleg?

I'm afraid not. Thankfully the HK R3 LE only looks a little better so really the R1 is fine. It does illustrate well how good the R1 holds up.

I guess I'll just have to steal a copy when I'm in HK next month...
Or maybe I can find a bootleg in mainland china...

That will likely be a DVD5. So probably worse quality than the DVD9 R1.

Myeah, you have a point there...
But also, most likely, ALOT cheaper.
Ah well, we'll see.
Might order the region 1 instead. Dollar is low anyway...

A lot cheaper yes but then the R1 isn't too bad to start with.

I have nothing to do with bootlegs.

Surely you never spent £80 for the LE?

Doesn't mean I bought a bootleg.

If you're not using a Bootleg (Bought or Downloaded) and didn't buy the expensive HK LE. Where did you source the captures from?

Downloaded an uncompressed DVD-9 rip would be my guess.

Bingo.

Or perhaps I could have asked someone to take the caps for me or borrowed the disc?

That's what I said and you said you don't touch bootlegs ;)

What has downloading a DVD got to do with bootlegging?
