What a pointless comparison. The screenshots are so ridiculously small they mean virtually nothing. 1/2 at least should've been full size.EvaUnit02 wrote:R1 UE vs. R4 UE screenshot comparison here.
We should be including the Japanese EE too then:Markgway wrote:I just want the best image quality available for the Special Edition.
...and it matters what? He already has the loaded R1 2-disc UE.bradavon wrote:That's only the 1 disc version.
No, it has DTS. I wonder what the bitrate is though? Cuz a DD-Plus 5.1 track has a higher bitrate than a half-bitrate DTS track.Speaking of HD versions there looks to already be a Blu-ray version:

Mark refuses to own two versions of the same film and in this I'd agree when they're so similar releases.EvaUnit02 wrote:...and it matters what? He already has the loaded R1 2-disc UE.
Are you talking about a video or audio bit-rate? The DVD Pacific listing says plain old DD5.1, which sucks.EvaUnit02 wrote:I wonder what the bitrate is though? Cuz a DD-Plus 5.1 track has a higher bitrate than a half-bitrate DTS track.
Good find.
Silly, what do you think I meant? Audio - You'd think that'd be hugely obvious since sentences about audio tracks directly proceeds the quoted comment within the same paragraph. Grim is not a good role model for you, find a new friend for your play-dates in the sandbox.bradavon wrote: Are you talking about a video or audio bit-rate?
Yup, for Blu-ray is DD-Plus is not the minimum required for audio format like it is for HD-DVD.The DVD Pacific listing says plain old DD5.1, which sucks.
Totally, I'd love to hear like say T2 in a bit-rate that high.True regarding the bit-rate but it does effectively mean every release now gets DTS quality. Dolby TrueHD is 10mbps so much higher than Full-rate DTS.
The likes of T1, T2 and Robocop are guaranteed multiple dips on the HD formats. Hopefully when I finally get around to getting HD equipment they will have sorted those titles out, cuz T1, T2, Robocop and Lawrence of Arabia are the first HD titles that I'd like to buy. It's good to see they've included both commentaries but otherwise what a rip-off.
Where are all the hours of extras? No HD Audio???
Blu-ray is a complete joke thus far. Encoding video in MPEG-2, failure in manufacturing dual-layered discs.I don't actually reckon it will be all that good quality (other than being able to play it on a TV screen, big plus) as Blu-ray discs have really suffered lately.
The R1 UE is also the only affordable version with DTS for both the TC & Extended Cut. It maybe long OOP but is readily available quite cheaply 2nd hand, since there's so many around (none of that OOP Criterion massive price tag non-sense).It's the only DVD with seamless branching for all 3 versions, that appeals to most people.
What a Tardis, it's just £3.Mark refuses to own two versions of the same film

It's in stock here:EvaUnit02 wrote:It maybe long OOP but is readily available quite cheaply 2nd hand, since there's so many around (none of that OOP Criterion massive price tag non-sense).
