Yes, but no date. It was originally intended to be one of the earliest titles last summer, but everything was pushed back big time. I expect we'll see it (early?) next year. I have a list of remastered titles.
I suspect it will be a Fox port (or probably the other way around) but can wait if a new DVD is coming.
If they port the image - fine. But PLEASE not the audio and dubtitles. This film is TOO much in need of a definitive presentation.
HungFist wrote:Chances of getting the original mono in decent form are pretty good, and even if they screw up (like often lately) they should at least fix the sync problem.
I thought that after Crime Story -- but the last few releases have been downmixes even when HKL had poper mono!
I'd prefer it uncut but that doesn't hugely bother me either.
The HK versions of Eastern Condors have never been cut by the censors. I'd love to see those missing scenes from the Taiwanese theatrical release.

Where did you source is? Care to share what it says please?

Audio is a given (except hopefully in sync) but hopefully with DD2.0 added too.

That is weird when HKL unlike their 5.1 tracks don't create their own.
The HK versions of Eastern Condors have never been cut by the censors.
I specifically meant the UK cuts.

Thanks Mark.

As it IS coming I can wait, the HKL is cheap normally anyway so no big deal (if it's STILL out of sync). I'm wiling to be a guinea pig on this one and order it on the hope it's okay.

Brad, don't you know all our JS info comes from asiandvdguide :D

They had a link to a list of all non-remastered titles and they still have a list of remastered titles somewhere.

Oh :( . I was hoping you had some secret affiliation :D . What this one? -

It doesn't mention Eastern Condors???

That last list you posted, Brad, is of what's out or available for pre-order.

The list I have, and perhaps HungFist too, I got a while ago before they started releasing the films. It was originally linked to at the ADVDG, but has since been withdrawn (I think?) If not maybe HungFist knows where it is now?

I would post it but I'm not sure it was ever meant for general consumption? Hung?

If you want to know about specific titles that's OK.

Eastern Condors coming from JS on December 21, along with City Hunter. You all know what my source is

If they get the mono right, then I'll buy it and get Millionaires Express on HKL and forget about the HK Video.

@ Mark, yeah, the link wasn't working last time I checed. I remember it had some John Woo titles on it (Young Dragons at least). Was any there Jackie Chan films?

All of Jackie's films (for Harvest or Lo Wei) were on one or the other list. Most are remastered. Anything specific you had in mind?

Ronin Entertainment will be releasing Fantasy Mission Force, Young Tiger and Heroine. Was any of these on the JS list?

Fantasy Mission Force - No. I'm not even sure which company made this?

Young Tiger and The Heroine - Are the same film. And no, they're not on JS list. They were made by Great Earth (Da Di). No idea who currently has the HK rights.

They are?

BCI/Ronin Entertainment seem to think of them as two separate films...

Lol, that's strange.

"The Heroine" is the original title. Film was made circa 1972/3 and stars Charlie Chin, Kan Chia Feng and Hu Chin. It's the one in which Jackie sports a giant mole on his face. 'The Young Tiger' is an alternate name for it -- as are 'Police Woman' and 'Rumble in Hong Kong' (abridged). If BCI are classing them as seperate titles, damned if I know what you're getting!?! :?

by HungFist
Lol, what a mess. I've heard of Police Woman and Rumble in Hong Kong but didn't know they were the one and same film, not to mention it had even more alternate titles :?

Posted: 15 Dec 2006, 19:09
by Markgway
Yeah, everytime it comes out it gets a new title, lol

I presume one of these films actually is THE HEROINE. But what's the other? I would've guessed NONE BUT THE BRAVE, which is sometimes erroneously listed as The Heroine (made same year, Jackie plays villain in both). But the BCI dude claims none of the films were held by Fortune Star. None But the Brave IS held by Fortune Star, listed under the alternate title Kung Fu Girl. Confusing, huh?

I've got this already. The one listed as The Heroine AKA Police Woman is that film. Young Tiger is Not Scared To Die, which was retitled Eagle Shadow Fist back in the day. None But The Brave AKA Kung Fu Girl is owned by Fortune Star, and not on this release. To further confuse you, there's a third Young Tiger with Jackie in a bit part directed by Wu Ma. It's title...Young Tiger!!! :)

As for the release, The Heroine is the best looking of the set and 16:9 enhanced. Not Scared to Die is good. It is part of their lower cost Kung Fu label, so I didn't expect perfection. It's worth it for the price IMO.

Lol, Why on Earth would they choose Young Tiger (of all titles) for Not Scared to Die when they could've just used that or Eagle Shadow Fist. I swear they're just trying to confuse people. AFAIK, hitherto Not Scared to Die has never been named Young Tiger, but The Heroine has. It's just silly if you think about it. Crash released the Wu Ma version, starring Meng Fei and Yasuaki Kuarata. Never seen it.

The folks they licensed them from gave them the titles. BTW, both of them have the Good Earth film intros.

Are they uncut? I can't remember if I saw them uncut or not as it was ages ago on VHS.

I just got it, but Not Scared to Die is the Eagle's Shadow Fist edit ie it plays up Jackie being in the film in the credits as if he's the star. The original intro was quite different, but the film itself I seem to remember was the same. Don't know about if it or the other has cuts, and It looks like I won't be watching anything non-work related for a while. I just got a whole stack of Celestial check discs. Including the uncut version of Black Magic 2!! :)

I seem to recall the version I saw was the late 70's re-edit Eagle Shadow Fist. Jackie was still a supporting player so it's probably roughly the same as Not Scared to Die as I don't recall any inserted footage from other films to beef up his role or that kind of nonsense. But that doesn't mean it was uncut or unabridged - in fact I think there were some local censor cuts (violence) to the print I saw.

Is that for Image? Will the IVL be the same uncut print? How does the film compare to Part 1 (which I really didn't care for... but am inclined to give everything a chance)?

Nope I don't but thanks anyway.
Thanks but all I want is a release list and specs if known. That thread is 22 pages long. The first post is very out of date.

Do you guys browse every Asian forum on the web? :D

Huh do you work for Fortune Star? Please post it. Be a team player ;) . I presume you downloaded it like everyone else.

p.s - Don't forget the dedicated Fortune Star thread guys ;) -

It was a database rather than a list. And it was removed by Fortune Star. You're right I don't work for them so there's no come back on me for posting the details. Looks like Muldoon left them up on that forum page in text so it's obviously cool. I can't cut and paste the list properly so it would just be a mess of writing. Best check out what Muldoon has written. The non-remastered database is considerably longer.

Pet peave hat on:

It's COPY and paste. Jeez no offence but do people have a clue what copy and paste, and cut and paste mean?

You could e-mail the file to me!!! Anyone would think the "secret" file belongs to the KGB.
Markgway wrote:Best check out what Muldoon has written. The non-remastered database is considerably longer.
I don't give a Scooby doo what's on the non-remastered Database list. Non-remastered no interest for me.

You think there's come back when I spend my time browsing Google for all the lovely vouchers I post?

There is a good portion of members who benefit from them but I could sod all benefit out of posting them. I say be a team player ;)
