We all better pick up the BDs we want, before they go OOP. I suspect the DVDs will take a while longer, but even so get buying. It will be eons before the other Tartan BDs now get a release , and to think some are still pleased they've gone out of business.

Hard boiled worth getting? Looks pretty good over at Beaver. Still not up to the French version though.

R1 looks tasty but jeez dubtitles, douche bags.

It's got a few minor flaws (eg. for some reason, the title sequence is VERY heavily windowboxed) but on the whole its an OK presentation of the film

Subs: Tartan
Audio/Video: Both

I think that's how it goes. I've not seen a comparison to say which has better PQ between the Tartan and DD but I imagine both are decent, the same goes for the audio (Cantonese Original Mono, DD5.1 or DTS). Yes the Tartan CE is very good, make sure it's the CE you get. Which you should do as the old DVD was OOP years ago.

With the (possible) exception of The Ring Trilogy and Infernal Affairs all are considered excellent releases.

Oh yeah, I forgot I have Battle Royale (NTSC version) as well.

I found the window boxing on the title sequence wierd as well - when I saw that I thought the whole film would be like that!

It's because the title sequence was taken from a different source.

The DVD has an Easter Egg without it, in English only. If it interests you. Like it matters though.

I've only got 1 Tartan dvd left which is the Oldboy R1 3-disc tin.

So does anyone know if their catalogue are gonna go out of print?

Might have to pick up Hard Boiled.

As they've gone bust I'm sure they will eventually but there must be millions of copies out there.

I am buying the 2 Tartan BDs I want though, to be safe.

I'm still hoping that Lady Vengeance is somehow going to have its planned Blu-ray release, as it is still listed on e-tailors.

It looks like Tartan will now be known as "Palisades Tartan". It sounds like Palisades Tartan will be creating the discs but not distributing them.
