There was no '12' for video when Twin Dragons was originally passed; I guess the BBFC felt they could accomodate a 'PG' rather than a '15'. A '12' is about right for moderate violence and language.
The 'Armour Of God' shoot-out, including where the photographer gets shot in the eye is Jackie's candy for the kids :).
I seriously doubt Jackie directed that scene.
Surprised it didn't get an E (excempt)
Eh?

chenlung wrote:I believe there is enough to warrant an 18 'Terminator'. Ripping out someone's heart, lots of other violence. I was surprised at the downgrade too, but I believe it was after the older 'scared of everything' BBFC guy left , things changed (nunchaku restored etc). Some things like downgrading this violent feature, still remain odd to me.
I think 'The Terminator' is acceptable as a strong '15'. There's not much detail in the violence. 'Terminator 3' shouldn't be a '12' though; that's clearly a '15' worthy film.

One of the most inappropriate downgrades I've seen at the BBFC is 'Psycho III'. From an '18' to a '15'. I don't know what they were thinking??

Even so, it got left in the film ;).
Eh?
Joke Mark :). BBFC may have gotten bored with 'Dragon Lord', that they took a chance and gave it an 'E' rating (exempt from classification).

'Dragon Lord' is alright. Not one of Jackie's best, but hardly boring.

I absolutely love "Dragon Lord" and can't understand how many people do not like it. It's Jackie's first real stunt fest.

Thanks Brad.
I agree Mark T3 should have been a 15 IMO with at least 4 uses of the f word.

Didn't Columbia make the effort to call people's names properly? Wong Kei Ying did, but ow about Wong Fei Hung or Yen Te San?

It should've been a lot better first!

Does it matter? It was cropped to buggery and in the incorrect language (which at least is complete).

It would have been better if Sony had added the missing dialogue in as Mandarin instead of using the English dub.

HKL did dubtitles for quite a few films. I just got Red Wolf and there the subs call everyone by their English name in the dub and from what I sampled matched the dub exactly. Ditto Black Sheep Affair, Hitman and Drunken Master

Many of Sony's DVDs of Asian films uses dubtitles - and bad dubtitles at that. In New Fist Of Fury, Jackie's character Ah Lung becomes HeLong and in Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla, a line describing a scientific instrument is left as "The bowl contains ????" because the subber couln't decipher a particular word

I don't know much about Sweden. Sorry.

I could've tried an ABBA joke... I suppose?

You know, we had to read Trainspotting in College and I honestly couldn't get past the first page. The language - at least the words that didn't begin with f or c - made no sense to me. I asked to do something else instead.
