From the AVS Forum:

I tried out Transformers HD DVD. Start up was around 40 seconds. It started up and worked flawless. The picture I felt was better than the HD DVD add on I had for the 360.

yet the poster doesn't mention price etc...hmm... i could post i'd seen a flying pig outside my window but it doesn't make it true.

Not yet. It's only just out in America and obviously they're not going to be checking.

I will be. MovieTyme have told me they hope to get stock in in January. I'm not holding my breath but it's something. As soon as I can find somewhere that imports to the UK I'll be ordering one.

It apparently also works with the Samsung BD-1200 BD Player too, some user put in Terminator BD (which is from Sony) then DH4 BD and it worked.

Agreed. It seems to be a "Samsung" not "Player" problem. It's not going to stop me buying one though.

Does the Fox Java amount to much?

Interesting:

FWIW mine played LFoDH just fine last night. I even stopped, started, paused, backed up and everything else you could do to it.

I've also added:

Planet Earth to the HD-DVD list!

Oh such great loses, not being able to watch Mr & Mrs Smith, Die Hard 4 TC and Fantastic Four 2! That's more than enough reason to commit suicide!

But seriously though, the only major bummer would be Planet Earth. I've heard that that doco series has stunning visuals (although one that I wouldn't buy on HD. As a bargain bin DVD set, yes).

Agreed. I'm far more concerned about Fox BDs in general though, clearly it's something Fox alone are adding to the Java on their discs.

That's a strange one as I cannot find the source for this on AVS. It just says "Problem using the scene selection" in the main thread for problem discs.

That alone doesn't sound like a fault we should get too worried about. It could also be a particular problem with the disc as only one user has reported it (AFAIK).

If consumers are playing a premium price for a disc player it should be able to play any disc,crap film or not.

there are reports over at dvdforums that the Samsung BDP-1000 won't play Life Of Brian.the ps3 plays it flawlessly.

Bugger the first title I care about

. Pan's Labyrinth USA HD-DVD confirmed by two users over at AVS to not load. The USA BD confirmed by one user does.

It's suspected that it's related to the web content, but that's just a guess. Oh well it looks like I'll be getting the BD after all.
