A forum where you can only post messages which are considered OK by their own censors: yae(!)

Hurray for free speech...

What's next!? An Eastern Heroes style magazine called HKlegends, with 'reviews' teling us how brilliant Red Wolf is!?

Hey mates!

Me and two further colleagues of mine are moderating the forum. We are only looking for swear words and indecent stuff, like racist comments etc. We post criticism and so on as well.

Hey, have you guys taken a look at the news page? They report about the film I am working on with Bey and Maggie, he he he! That's also the reason why I haven't been online so often for a while. We were busy shooting. I hope that I will soon be allowed to post photos from the shoot. It was an awesome experience, but until now still a bit confidential. But it is developing. Yay!

How did you get involved? Fair enough but for many here even censoring words will mean they don't post.

Surely a swear filter and ban members if they break some rules is a much better idea?

It's great to hear a Bulleteer is involved with HKL well done.

We saw how good a swear filter worked on here, didn't we? Think of vaginas, he he he!

Brian asked me if I would like to help moderate the forum and I said ok. Until now, all moderators, internal and external HKL people are using the same account. Hence, I think people are getting irritated at the moment. It should be cleared out soon, though.

It would be more logical than wasting time with having post monitored if HKL want to go down that route was my point.

Having to monitor means posts can't flow freely and quickly. It could take days for them to appear. If swear words are filtered at least with an auto filter it would be quicker.

Because you can't all login at the same time?

So you've met Brian? Through Bey?

Ask him to stop releasing altered Premier Asia DVDs please or invest in seamless branching. It makes no sense when by and large HKL DVDs always unaltered. I don't get the difference except Premier Asia films are new. I guess they wouldn't dare alter a beloved HK film!

It also goes completely against HKL original mission statement!

Not because we can't login at the same time. The thing is that people have complained about AdAmAs who is one of the moderators. He also runs a HK website and people who know him from there say that they don't need him to tell them about HK cinema etc. (ignorant in my opinion, but anyways). So what they thought was that AdAmAs was the only moderator and the only person replying. Hence I always put my name at the end of each message I sent now.

As for Premier Asia... stuff has been said and discussed, but I haven't talked about the alteration of the PA titles. I'm sure they have their reasons. I myself am only keeping my other non-PA discs of "Musa" and "Volcano High", because they are uncut. I also wouldn't use seamless branching, as I hate playing with my remote control while watching a film.

Hey Dragon,

I expect to see some posts about how...

A. Dragons Forever is cut.
B. Police Story 2 is cropped.
C. Fist of Fury is in the wrong language.
D. The Red-Wolf is shite (well, it is!)
E. Millionaires' Express failed to include the EASILY available deleted scenes.... etc.....

:D

So is there a moderator around 24/7? If there's a lot of staff presence and you're looking at every post anyway then it's much easier to just run a forum normally. I think the BBC use a moderation queue (public service of course) and there are special instances where one is useful but not for a general forum. It's not really feasible as it slows everything down.

I spotted this in the HKL news section:

Seven Swords To Open In Venice 24/06/05

The martial arts epic 'Seven Swords' is set to open the Venice Film Festival. The film is widely heralded as marking a return to form for maverick Hong Kong movie-maker Tsui Hark, the genius behind the 'Once Upon A Time In China' series.

The film brings together two generations of movie martial arts mastery, with 'Iron Monkey' hero Donnie Yen cast alongside Shaw Brothers veteran Lau Kar-leung.

Maggie Does Cologne 24/06/05

'Naked Weapon' star Maggie Q flew to Cologne, Germany, recently to shoot the teaser for a forthcoming action thriller entitled 'Finale'.

The film, to be helmed by German director Rouchdi Guedria, is set during the 1966 England/Germany World Cup Final.

Maggie is currently in LA, and will soon star in her first major Hollywood feature.
.....................................

Cool :D Is that the film you're working on LD? Congrats :) 8)
I'm guessing a sort of plotline similar to the football game subplot in "Shiri" but I'm probably way off ;)
Pity we all know what the ending will be too... ;) :D

According to the HKL forum the Fist of Fury PE extras are set to include:

Animated photo gallery.
Exclusive interactive tour of Jing Woo-mun School in Shanghai.
Interview with Nora Miao.
Interview with Jeff Imada.
Interview with Dan Inosanto.
Interview with Linda Palmer.
Interview with Joe Torreneuva.
Trailer Gallery (UK Promotional and Original Theatrical)

I think its meant to be out in July or August.

I own Musa also as it's an excellent DVD and better cut of the film but both it and Volcano High are cut, no offence intended.

Who cuts a film means nothing the fact is they're cut. This reminds me of the utter idiocy of Rewind DVD Compare saying "Rules of Attraction" is not cut in the US as the MPAA cut it but it is cut in the UK because the BBFC cut it???

See: http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=3193

The only uncut versions are the R4 and Scandinavian R2. The R1 has a lower rating because it's cut, making it an R from an NC-17 doesn't make it any less cut. I pointed this out but they didn't change it. It's annoying as they're implying the other versions (non R1) were based on the R rated cut which is not true. The uncut DVDs are from the NC-17 cut.
thelostdragon wrote:I also wouldn't use seamless branching, as I hate playing with my remote control while watching a film.
I believe you're thinking of integrated branching.

Seamless branching should be like T2 and be flawless. It's great when it's used properly allowing more than one cut on the same DVD.
Markgway wrote:A. Dragons Forever is cut.
By whom? Not that it's conclusive but it's not mentioned here:

http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=57537
C. Fist of Fury is in the wrong language.
Aren't the other Bruce Lee films also?

Well spotted, mate! I wish I could show you guys some pictures from the shoot, but as of now it is still a bit confidential what the whole thing is looking like etc. All I can say is that it is uber-cool. :D

Well if LD is a mod , then it's safe. :D

(BTW I am against swear filters, but I have nothing against LD checking my posts to make sure that I'm not insulting anyone).

I've just written my first post.

FYI: My name over there is Thomas Hesse (my real name).
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

1966 England/Germany World Cup Final
Why this period?
Tom2681 wrote:BTW I am against swear filters, but I have nothing against LD checking my posts to make sure that I'm not insulting anyone
Why? The end result is the same.

I merely meant at least if it's an auto filter then at least posts will appear quickly. If we have to wait for every post to get re-read then it could take days for them to appear.

Well, let me answer this with another question. Why not?
Sorry, mate! I'm not allowed to reveal anything about the story.

That's why there are more than one moderator. Me for example, I mostly am online at night. So when most other mods are asleep, I am checking the forum as well. Days until posts appear is a bit over the top. Maybe a few hours at the max.

Why not indeed. Fair enough.

I was estimating a day sorry but even a few hours in a few months time when it gets popular will be to slow. Anyway as I'm not even registered I should shut up.

It was just a little "let's see if it works-post" in the "favorite actors thread".

Thank you.

I hate people who whine for the sake of whining and say crap such as "what a crap quality DVD" and don't back it up.

I had to cheat with my name. I don't want to use my real name not because I don't mind you guys knowing it but I'm known as Bradavon and that's how it shall stay.

A username option would be nice??? :) and the ability to edit posts?

I see the new forums don't support BB code (I tried to add [ b ] into a post and it didn't work. LD could you fix it please, the Ong Bak one). Actually BB code support would be nice.

p.s - Do the Guys/gals who run HKL and PA read the forums? I hope so.

Hey,

fixed! As for the guys at HKL... yes, they do read the forum. I take it that due to the weekend, they are out of office at the moment.

And yes... BB Code would be awesome.
