New SE looks very dark in a couple of those caps.

The original, had it been anamorphic.

On a TV screen, the darker shots aren't intrusive, it must be your monitor settings. I'm glad I still own the old laserdisc, but the new version kicks ass, can't wait for the HD DVD... both cuts are remixed in 5.1, foleys are redone, but the remix is very faithful, nothing like the Terminator remix at all, which was a travesty.

Yeah, I realised some frame don't match, so I mistakenly thought at first it was zoomboxed, it's just the camera moved a bit. 8)

I don't even know if 2.0 was included. Can anyone confirm?

I kinda liked this one.

If the foley effects are redone, thats enough to make it unwatchable for me! How is the remix very faithful if the foley effects have been changed?

Thanks Salty but it's hard to tell when they're different sizes.

Looks like different framing to me.

The first shot is definitely framed differently. There's more image to the right but less to the left of the frame. To be honest, I think the original version looks better, even if it is letterbox.

Look at Matrix's shirt in the first image - so much sharper & more detailed on the letterbox version. The colours seem to look more accurate too, to my eye anyway...

Hard to believe it but the old letterbox job looks better.

WTF are Fox up to?

And 5.1 remixing?? Noooooooooooo!!!

I used to have a 16:9 Euro edition of the older transfer.

Agreed. I was gonna swipe it off ya until I looked down to find it was taken  .

Euro DVDs are the best, but it has fuck-all extras.

Those captures could be off Salty, knowing you ;). I doubt it though.

The original dolby surround track is included. The new foleys (or are they the old ones re EQed ?) just sounds bigger and better and totally faithful, the remix is more clear, but totally akin to the original version (which is included anyway).

Amazingly the old R1 looks better, the SE is much softer IMO.
I have a 16:9 French/Euro release and I'm happy with it.

For those who haven't gotten an "early copy" yet, I found this clip you all might like to see:

The only bit not in the "uncut uncut" print is where after Matrix throws the blade, the same take shows it in the guys throat for half a second (excusable seeing it's an 'alternative take' on what happened) where as the "uncut uncut" print takes out that half-second but replaces it with a different close-up.

The TC in the "SE" is anamorphic right?
So I can get rid of my Euro R2? :)
