Worse than "New Fist of Fury"? "Fearless Hyena" has some awesome fight choreography, especially against the three guys at the end of the film (right before he fights the boss).

Yup I agree with LD, I find the comedy in Hyena to be extremely heavy handed and immensely irritating, but at least JC delivers a very good fight at the end. Chan starred in other films in the 70's that have much less to redeem themselves with.

New Fist Of Fury is a big missed opportunity - especially compared to Fist Of Fury II - but the end fight is decent and Nora Miao lights up the screen. It also helps that the villian is played by the awesome Chen Sing

By comparison, Fearless Hyena is over burdened with unfunny comedy, the only girl is Jackie in drag, and the Monty Pythonish English dub is hideous!

God yes! The English dub for Fearless Hyena would most likely get my vote for worst ever!

Fearless Hyena is awesome and easily one of Jackie's 10 best movies

Yeah, but if the bulk of the film is bad, I find myself not caring by the time the final duel comes along, and frankly, I thought all the emotion-fu was naff. I just didn't like this one, I actually preferred New Fist of Fury. At least it had a story and was a lot less "comedic".

Guess I can jump in and throw in my two cents. I think my personal love for Fearless Hyena, as with most things, comes from nostalgia. It was one of the first Jackie Chan films, if not THE first, I had ever seen, probably when I was about 4. It was the old, big-boxed All Seasons Entertainment VHS my parents rented for me at this local independent video store (which was also where I first found "Chinese Connection II"... yes, under that title... and uncut!). I loved this movie, and the comedy, while I can't take it today, I loved as a little kid. Sure, it pales in comparison to his Seasonal work, but I still enjoy it.

As for New Fist of Fury having a story... for once, I think it was a case of a martial arts film having TOO much of a story. I'm still curious to see the condensed version of the film (which is rare on my part) just to see if it flows any better than the 2 hour cut... although 40 minutes chopped out seems a bit much.

Also, as for "Cub Tiger", I saw the "MWCF" version about 7 or so years ago when I found another video store which had a ton of the Eastern heroes/Xenon videos... talk about cut and paste. It's like once the real Jackie fights the villains at the dock midway through the film, suddenly these men in period outfits show up and challenge Jackie... but, gotta love the use of "Zombi" from the Dawn of the Dead soundtrack in the alternate fight finale :P

Actually, I quite like Half A Loaf Of Kung Fu. It's pretty damn silly and the fights are very poor but it's kinda loveable

For me, Jackie's worst is Fearless Hyena 2, closely followed by that grusome twosome he did for Da Di: Police Woman and Not Scared To Die. Any film that advocates censorship is in my bad books!

FH2... I have virtually no words... I saw it years ago, not knowing the "history" behind it... needless to say, I was confused and disappointed. Ugh...

The only redeemable thing about FHII is the Dean Shek scene and to a lesser extent the cool teaming of Yam Sai-kwoon and Kwan Young-moon. Everything else was awful.

I guess it is a bit of a curiosity piece for the deleted FH1 footage as well, but not much past that... guess that's why IVL crammed both films together in that mini box set.

Maybe someone should just make a FH2 highlights video... it'd probably only be a few minutes :P The one thing I do remember from FH2 (other than the cut and paste) is the use of Raiders of the Lost Ark music in the finale.
