Ah, yes. Of course. I didn't read it carefully enough, first time...
And that's how rumours spread around the web.
I'd rather call it - "And that's what fortune-teller dragonhero says...", well, almost...
EXILED Also Censored in Hong Kong (movieXclusive.com) October 19, 2006
In Hong Kong, a shot had to be cut from the movie to avoid getting a Category III (adult only) rating. In the scene, Lam Ka-Tung shakes hands with Simon Yam with his left hand, which was considered as a gang-related gesture not suitable for the under-aged by Hong Kong Film Censorship Authority (FCA). The producing studio, Media Asia argued it was not a gang gesture and even provided testimony from a real gang member. However, FCA insisted that a Category III rating would be assigned to the movie if the shot was not cut. Director Johnnie To and all major cast members were very angry about it but Media Asia still made the cut in order to get a Category IIB rating for the movie.
In the mainland China, the movie is allowed for being distributed on DVD. However, this does not mean there will be no censorship. According to Zoke, the mainland Chinese video distributor, a few "minor shots“ have been acquired to be deleted by the authority.
BTW: This sounds interesting:
Soi Cheang's "Shamo" Source: Kaijushakedown
Soi Cheang, director of the awesome "Dog Bite Dog" is hard at work on his follow up "Shamo", which sounds like another slice of vicious nihilism. Based on a Japanese manga, the plot follows a young boy who has everything until he suddenly slaughters his parents, is sent to a reformatory where he's gang raped and abused, and then learns karate from a mysterious martial arts master and turns himself into an unstoppable killing machine and male prostitute. The lovely sounding film is currently shooting with Shawn Yue in the lead role, supposedly along with Francis Ng as support, and should be out sometime next year.
Whoa! I have been reading the manga series. Awesome news. Damn it, though! I wanted to secure the rights of that manga. But I don't think Shawn Yue is the right choice for the Ryo-character. And who is Francis Ng gonna play? Hmmm...

Shawn Yue in the lead role = Odds severely against it. The man is a wet drip and more wooden than Keanu Reeves was back in the late 80s/early 90s!!
Yes! Finally another film set in the 30's of Shanghai (can't get enough of it). Blood Brothers looks very interesting. That's definitely a movie to look forward to! It follows the main idea of "Bullet in the Head" it was said once.
I'm also wondering, when this Ringo Lam/Johnnie To/Tsui Hark collaboration "Traingle" will hit asian cinemas.
kfc-Cinema mentiones another interesting project, read yourselves:
KFCC EXCLUSIVE! First Look At New Johnnie To film!
After a recent visit to the Milkyway building in Hong Kong, KFCC can exclusively reveal the first details of the new Johnnie To film!
It currently has the working-title of MAD DETECTIVE and is going through the final stages of post-production. At the moment, all we can reveal is that the film, a gritty, action, drama, focuses on a detective who is hunting down a serial killer. One detail we can share, which is bound to delight fans of Hong Kong film, is that MAD DETECTIVE will see the triumphant return of Lau Ching-Wan to badass cinema! He will be starring as the detective in the film.
The only other detail that we can add is that the footage we've seen looks pretty damn good...
I'm also looking forward to seeing the Anthony Wong film "Mr. Cinema" and Ngai Hoi's "Eye in the Sky". Both are already out on DVD.
I don't know if this has been covered in the reviews section but I recommend watching Chain Game and Eye In The Sky which have been released in mainland China, they are quite enjoyable films.
thelostdragon wrote:The trailer for his "Divergence" was also very mis-leading.
Benny Chan makes really bad films, but he has a huge bonus, because he made one of my all-time favourites which is "A Moment of Romance".
Other good films by Benny Chan:
Who am I?
Gen-X Cops
New Police Sorry... I mean Story & Heroic Duo were okay, too.
Benny Chan makes entertaining action movies, but usually with no plot and poor acting (e.g. New Police Story). I actually quite liked Divergence, but not sure about Invisible Target. I have still ordered it anyway.
