Fortune Star HAVE remastered City on Fire. HKL should've used the FS print, not the one from Media Asia.

I like the colours better.. but why aren't the others on there? Where's Sammo?

Saw CITY ON FIRE in the shops today. Back cover states 5.1 audio only. Just in case any doubts remained.

Regarding Ong Bak, there is a poster for the UK release in this month's Total Film and the score is credited to "Attomix Clubbing Studio" - the IMDB does not list any composers so I'm not sure if this is different to the Thai release

Hey,

I came across the Project A set on HKL's site. It looks like they just repackaged the earlier discs in a box/digipack?

They have the same extras as the old discs, they've done new cover art though.

Looks like HKL have missed another opportunity to fix an old inferior release. Hey, why bother trying when you can cheaply cash in with new packaging?

I'm happy with my IVL box set (dubtitles aside).

And I notice that the HKL art for Millionaires' Express gives Cynthia Rothrock top billing for her extended cameo. Groan... I guess a white person will always have the upper hand over the chinky. Sammo and Biao are the stars and their names should be above the title. Not Cyndy's (no disrespect to her).

I agree with what you say about HKL cashing in. Looks like they've done the same with the JC "box set" and just used the old prints

The ME cover on HKL's site looks like this:

I know Cindy comes first but the biggest picture is actually of Sammo.

I've never seen this film so will buy this

The reason why I thought HKL just used the old prints is because all they do is list the same extras from the old DVDs.

Sammo's name is marginally bigger and yes he gets the central picture, but putting Cyndy's name first isn't too subtle. And neither is removing Sammo and Biao's names from the Dragons Forever cover. Do HKL do this just to piss people off?

I agree the DF cover I saw (if its the one HKL will use) looks stupid.

Mind you HKL only put Jackie's name on the Project A cover at the expense of others, as he's the one that will attract Moe and Joe Tesco. Sad but true.

The order of the names actually means nothing. This is common practise. Just look at many covers, it's common to see the order of the names different to the order of the people on the cover. Which I find always look a bit odd.

The box doesn't have an English dub, but IVL for some peculiar reason used the HKL dubtitles for Project A I/II and Police Story I/II. Rather than commission their own subtitles. For shame. But the A/V on the Project A set is better. HKL have missed yet another opportunity to upgrade a classic.

The cover gives the impression that Cyndy is top-billed. Seems clear to me. All she has is a small support role - a glorified cameo. Any number of HK stars have more screen time than her in that movie. Eric Tsang is in it more!!

The Project A HKL has lots of extras though, the reason I got it (it was cheap also) and may upgrade to the IVL box set if I like it enough. Project A Part 2 HKL doesn't look anything special.

The Dragons Forever case looks alright, but at least the other cover they had gave credit to Yuen Biao and Samo Hung.

FOF, Taegukgi and possibly Ong-bak are on my to buy list.

If FOF has the FS remastered print then I'm upgrading for sure. It wouldn't make any sense if they didn't use it.

I'll get Taegukgi also, even if it only beats the R1 for a commentary and DTS. It would be great if PA went straight for the DC with this but I can't see it I'm not even sure it's out in Korea yet???

I hope Ong-bak is uncut in the UK. I won't be bothering unless it's the original Thai cut. It's good to see PA finally taking their label seriously. I believe this will be the busiest year for them yet.

The thing is Grim you and Mark are the ONLY people who have ever expressed concern about this.

I'd prefer Mandarin but tbh it doesn't really bother me and that would only be so if the war cries weren't lost. Even if they weren't there originally. Even IVL think Cantonese was the original soundtrack!

I couldnt care less about the Mono thats for sure, but I have expericnced a few Shaw Brothers new tracks remastered for fools

The added loads of extras noises and made the sound appauling! each punch was ten times louder than it was and they have echoes of each hit so it sounds like 10 punches!!!!!! as long as HKL dont go down that slippery road I dont mind 5.1, but if they change the origanal tracks so badly it ruins the film, then I will cpmplain thats fo sure.

I think the option of origanal and remixed sound is a good one if they change the traks much.

as far as I know Taegukgi is coming out in cinemas before its dvd release

I will be going to see it thats for sure!
