Proof that HKL is staffed by lobotimised slugs is shown by their total failure to include the HK version's fight scenes

Will it be uncut though?
Back in the day the old DVD was cut by 4 minutes before it could receive the 18 rating.

lol, that's all I can say (do). I know BBFC has their animal cruelty policies but I didn't know they still cut "normal" stuff, too. Seriously, when I saw your post I thought they had cut out the horse dick... but apparently that's not the case.

Big lie of HKL to claim their release of New Fist Of Fury has the nunchucks for the first time. The old UK DVDs and even some of the videos had those scenes. And will HKL's version be uncut - the FS print used for the Japanese DVD is cut by 40min

The ones that have been passed so far* seem to be complete versions AFAIK.

*Fearless Hyena, Shaolin Wooden Men, Magnificent Bodyguards, Snake and Crane Arts of Shaolin.

Yeah, but Cantonese only, if MB is anything to go by. And that one didn't have mono

The reviewer at DVD Reviewer reckons that Shaolin Wooden Men only has Cantonese and English tracks.

I don't pay too much attention to that site but unless he's wrong..........

I've just watch HKL's Shaolin Wooden Men and can confirm Cantonese + English only, and the DD2.0 Cantonese track is even a crappy downmix from the remastered 5.1 track (complete with loudass SWOOOOSHING in fighting scenes). Oh, and the Lobster Effect is present throughout. Kev Gilvear's reviewing it for DVDtimes and will be covering all this in his upcoming review.

You'd think these early Jackie titles are "obscure" enough for HKL not be be able to afford to lose all real fans with these downmixes (sorry if that sentence is a bit hard to figure out  )

I mean who's buying these? I'm not. After this news I don't see anyone at asiandvdguide (or other fan forums) buying this either. And the mainstream audiences...???

Thanks for the info Shing

Nah they just slap em together for the HMV buying crowd these days. That's where most their sales probably come from.

Dear God, HKL are really stupid!

Having corresponded with Chen Lung a few times, I've heard some real horror stories regarding their attitude

Where did all this old school pap come from all of a sudden. That cover art for sex and zen is excellent, pity it's cut. It's otherwise the only pre-order title that interests me.

The Duelist interests me more than all that old school stuff :D . I've never heard of Typhoon but then I stopped following Korean cinema ages ago, not because I don't like it I just did.

It's censored to cut the glamorisation (e.g - it's fun) to sexually assault someone.

I don't know if this cut is justified as I've not seen it, nor would I personally I cut it either. It's not like animal cruelty where the animal had no choice but to be hurt. It's acting!

Are you sure? That used to be a big no no.
