"A police state for Muslims....."

Post by grim_tales »

According to this guy, Abu Bakr, who was arrested.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6340935.stm

As far as I can see, he was arrested, questioned and then released without being charged.
What's the problem? :?
One statistic says 37 of 16-24 year old British Muslims in the UK would rather live under Sharia (sp?) law not UK law. In that case, they are hypocrites IMO.

It sounds as if Bakr is saying that he wants to the law changed to suit him and some Muslims.
seven days of virtual torture
this is going to effect me for the rest of my life
In this climate, unfortunately, some Muslims will be the subject of police investigations if they're the ones whio make threats of terror, set up extreme schools teaching that Jews and Christians are pigs and monkeys   So they get angry, are the subject of investigation.. its a viscious circle, and as has been pointed out, we only hear about the radical extremists on TV, who just spout rubbish.

37% or 37 guys? In any case, add one Muslim (me) in Europe to that number. There is more to the Sharia than the penalties for crimes, but you wouldn't know that as you aren't getting any information about the Sharia apart from the usual anti-Islamic propaganda sources.

Sharia law should stay where it belongs: in backward Middle Eastern countries.

If Britain was a Police State for Muslims that prick wouldn't have been allowed to spout off to the media would he?

Doh! I meant 37%, sorry LD :)
As for the statistic, IMO if they'd rather live under Sharia law then why do they come here? :?

There should be a country that is run under Sharia Law for those that want it. If that's how they want to live by all means... but do not bring it to my doorstep or try to turn Britain into Little Islam. You live in the UK you live by its secular rules. That's the way it has to be. I wouldn't move to a Muslim-based country and start whining about how tough it is to be a Christian or that everyone should live by the Bible. I deplore racism and know that peaceful Muslims sometimes get a tough time... but this Islamaphobia nonsense has gotten out of control.

Religion is not evil per se, you can find peace, hope and love in it - but consider this "For good people to do evil things, it takes religion" (Richard Dawkins).

I can only go by on what I see and there certainly seems to be a lot of pissed off Muslims right now, and that's excluding the extremist ones.

Even to the point that someone cannot be guiltily just because he's Muslim. This is effectively what I kept hearing on TV during recent raids in Manchester. It wasn't "we'll let the police do their investigation first" but no he cannot be a criminal he's Muslim, it's not possible, all non-Muslims are out to get me.

So paranoid, particularly in the younger generation.

I'm not remotely saying it isn't partially justified just that the stance to constantly fight instead of compromising and working together is all wrong, well it is IMO anyway.

I'm specifically talking about British Muslims btw. Who're as British as I am, again IMO.

But the propaganda is right about the penalties for crimes is it not?

Because sharia law would prevent them from saying the things they like to say. Talk about having your cake and eating it.

Reinstate? Has sharia law ever been in power in the UK?

Well said. I couldn't agree more.

Brad, please read properly. I was replying to Mark and hence talking about the Middle East.

Exactly!
I also agree with Mark. Too much time is given to these extremist, dangerous nutters and hardly any to normal, decent people to oppose it.

Does sharia law allow freedom of speech to the extent the Western world does? If it does I'm sorry for making such a comment, if it doesn't that's my source.

I get the impressed people who want sharia law come here (and I mean the western democracies now) allows them the freedom to spread their hatred whereas an opposing opinion in a country which practises sharia law would not.

Ignorant hat on: BTW are there any countries which do?

There is no country these days which practices the sharia law to the fullest. Some of its ideas are made use of in Saudi-Arabia etc., but that's not practicing the Sharia law when many of the rights it gives are neglected.

The last country to practice the Sharia law properly was Turkey until 1924.

What are those rights? We only ever hear about it from a negative point of view.

Interesting:

Check this out:

Elections and voting has been an Islamic system way before democracy came along.

Good to hear, but Sharia law still says it's okay to stone someone for adultery does it not? That's abhorrent in so many ways.

Huh? Weren't we talking about freedom of speech?

Are we going to do cock measuring here?

"In Sharia law you get stoned for adultery..."
"In a democracy there is the death penalty..."
"In Sharia law you get your hand chopped off for stealing..."
"In a democracy you get kidnapped and sent to remote prisons without a trial..."
"Yes, but in Sharia law..."
"Yes, but in the democratic West..."

Bla...bla...bla...

Please bring forward some fresh arguments when talking about the Sharia law. The old ones have already bored me to death in elementary school.

Yes but you never answered my question. We were also talking about Sharia law too.
"In a democracy there is the death penalty..."
Not in the democracy I live in. Agreed that's some what dubious in America however, last time I checked I'm not American.
"In a democracy you get kidnapped and sent to remote prisons without a trial..."
Get over yourself on your hatred for America. Move on.
Please bring forward some fresh arguments when talking about the Sharia law.
Sharia law came into the discussion so they're valid points.

Sharia law is a hilarious joke, still. :D

People say I am hard on criminals, yet Sharia law is worse than me. Yet they still let off so many things, why because they can.

I have to agree with Brad here, what LD has said about the death penalty applies to America (or rather, some states), this is not the fault of the political system of democracy.
Though I agree being kidnapped/imprisoned without trial is very wrong but is it the norm amongst it's own citizens/suspects in the middle East?
There is no death penalty in the UK and many other democratic countries.

why must LD defend his faith to you guys?

and why do you ask questions then seemingly not want to hear the answers.

and why is mentioning the atrocities that happen at gitmo hating america? its not like its been made up, or that is like an even thing, 90% of inmates are arab, yeah im sure thats not becuaes of discrimination, im sure 4yrs without trial in a hell hole is fair, and im sure that a democratic goverment cant change that....

not to start an argument at all but a few burning questions here...
