Is it true HKL said Wheels on Meals would be Platinum?! :o 8)

Play have it marked down as such.. are they confused with Dragons Forever? I'm not sure. :?

Yes HKL did confirm that both Dragons Forever & Wheels on Meals were platinum editions. But I cant see HKL releasing them on the same date...

Duel to the Death HKL vs. Fox:

http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=56740

Finally everyone should be happy. I wish HKL would now give us a proper 5.1 remix. Fox has!

About the issue of Mandarin mono on the Platinum Edition of "Fist of Fury", plus whether they'll use the FS transfer. :)
TBH I think they will, they're not going to spend money using old prints now they have the FS deal with new transfers of the Bruce films available to them. At least I hope so.
The one stumbling block is not even Fortune Star themselves provided Mandarin Mono on their remastered Bruce discs (though the Deltamac DVD of Fist of Fury basically had souped up mono - it was a stereo mix based on the original audio)

Er, no. Flashback to the Riki Hashimoto conversation, Brad. It was me that said HKL would be doing a new Fist of Fury. You said bollocks, or word to that effect. :D

I'll get my coat.

I can't be bothered to find exactly what you said (in a 11 page thread) so will believe you, what did you say again please? Thanks btw.

There is no way these DVDs will have Mandarin let alone Mandarin mono UNLESS you e-mail HKL and badger them:

feedback@hongkonglegends.co.uk and/or products@hongkonglegends.co.uk

I e-mailed HKL asking for mono and now we've get it. Of course I have no idea of my feedback worked but if you don't ask you don't get!

I did a list at the ADVDG if you want to check that out. We're not sure of the origins of the 119m IVL cut, a director's cut maybe?; but it's a good version and the additional scenes are interesting, so I wouldn't worry about buying it.
Why is it much better? I didn't think much of PS2 HK cut I doubt I'll like the Japanese cut, right?
It's not better IMO. It's just looonger @ 122m. The best cut is actually the trimmest and that's the 96m International Dub, whihc isn;t available in Chinese. The best overall version thus has to be the 106m HK theatrical edition, if only because it's Cantonese. If you don't like the film Brad, padding it out another 15 mins isn't going to help matters...

I admit I can't complain... will be buying this tomorrow. :)

Grrrr!! I wouldn't say that in public. Remixes have caused so much hastle to fans.

Something along the lines of... If HKL are interviewing Riki again it's likely for a new Fist of Fury DVD using the Fortune Star print... you said no.

I might, but I've mailed several times in the past and gotten no response.

It's because you're special Brad. HKL love you. So go and ask them for what we want. Good boy!!

I wonder what else they could put on the PE? I mean interviews, Mandarin is good and all but we need more rare stuff.
I'm sure (on the original HKL DVD) Bey talked about a trailer that featured Petrov (Bob Baker) and Bruce coming down some stairs. and when they finally meet the screen says something to the effect of "If you want to see the fight watch Fist of Fury!" :D

PS The original track must exsist, the Deltamac DVD has it (thats based on the original audio I'm sure) ;)

Firstly I'm a fan and prefer 5.1 remixes so do a "few" others and secondly you have both so it's only fair the 5.1 is a proper 5.1 track now.

The thing is to me mono sounds so dull I paid for a 6 speaker system so as to use 6 speakers not 1.

There's little point arguing. I'm a purist, you're not. We see it from different angles. If you wanna use your system watch Armageddon or something... Kung Fu movies belong in Mono.

Surely not all?

All I'm asking for is both mono and a proper 5.1 track. I'd like the choice to see which I prefer. For example Tai Chi Master I'd much prefer the mono track.

I'd give the original HK DVD a try if I could get hold of it.

If they were originally in Mono then yes, all. Obviously if a Kung Fu film from the 90's was in Stereo then that would be different, but bear in mind HK was still using Mono into the mid 90's as standard.

Hey,
At the very least, HKL should use the Fortune Star transfer for "Fist". They're not going to spend money re-using the same stuff and old print from the old disc.. are they? :D
As I said they *should* be able to use an acceptable Mandarin track, the Deltamac DVD (don't FS own Deltamac?) is fine isn't it Mark? ;)
I have asked/badgered HKL though.

Not unless they're incredibly stupid...

Cool. :)
Well they did claim to tweak the transfer for WOTD: PE didnt they but I'll be a monkeys uncle if I can figure how, both the original release and PE looked a bit rubbish. Both the Big Boss and Fist of Fury had better transfers than WOTD.

WOTD: PE has a dreadful picture. It's acceptable but only because (at the time) it had to be.

Thankfully (being my fave) FOF has a gorgeous picture. The best out of the lot. I'm not sure why though.

Hey,

From the 14 April HKL update:

You can get The Master for £9.99

Also:

Taegukgi

We are just beginning production on our theatrical trailer for the Korean box-office smash-hit Taegukgi (The biggest movie in Korean box-office history) . This heart-wrenching and beautifully crafted motion-picture about two brothers caught in the overwhelming destruction of the Korean War, beat Troy, Shrek 2 and Harry Potter 3 into submission at the 2004 Korean box-office, and took nearly 3-times as much as its nearest competitor during a record-breaking 13-week run. Look out for it at selected cinemas this summer!!

What is Tae Guk Gi?
Taeguki is the name of the national flag of South Korea. Tae Guk Gi was originally designed in 1876, but the usage of it was strictly banned during Japanese colonial rule of Korea (1910-1945). It's shape was finalized and generalisation in 1948 after after the first Korean government was established. It symbolises the universe and nature with red representing the male and the blue being the female with the black bars depicting the earth.

:D Taegukgi sounds very good, I'll surely pick it up. :)

Hmm.. you're right Romero Heroic Trio/Executioners should have been out ages ago.
I much preferred the fun, bonkers Heroic Trio to the bleak, depressing Executioners.

The Master (if you can find it) is still cheaper at CD WOW.

As far as I can tell "Heroic Trio/Executioners" are in a long line of HKL forgotten titles. I've not seen either but own the Universe HT DVD. I'll get around to watching it one day.

The thing is the early HK DVDs are so dreadful quality I can't usually bring myself to watch them. It's almost like going back to video.

I bet it doesn't mean he sees more of them. Sad really but true.
