I know but I've never seen anyone pay that. Most people wait for sales now of have the sense to look elsewhere.

Yeah I know what you mean. I prefer buying on the Internet to a shop though (much cheaper and better sales).

Dunno which one I'll get now, the NTSC "TC" is STILL 15 quid (!) at Play whereas the SE has DTS, good extras and is 17 quid. If they'd included the original ending on there (even just as an extra) then great.

Well your choices are:
Tartan DC - ONLY if you don't have progressive equipment
Tartan Theatrical NTSC - Progressive equipment

If you have a HTPC or a DVD Writer you can get the French or Jpanaese Theatrical, or the Japanese or Korean DC.

I don't think I have progressive equipment (?) Well certainly not a Prog Scan TV but I think my player can "do" Prog Scan PAL.

I doubt you need a Progressive Scan TV to play the NTSC Battle Royale. Not many people have them for a start. My DVD player may be capable. But I think the term has been misapplied. I think it means it's suitable for PS players not ONLY suitable for... Correct me if I'm wrong...

I just meant "best suited to," I don't think grim misunderstood. Of course if you want the theatrical cut the NTSC Tartan is fine.

It can't be that hard? Do you want the TC or DC? How much are you prepared to spend?

Like I said before the DC is expensive from Play but go on waste your money :)

It's been said many times before the "Progressive" crap on the cover for the NTSC 5.1 version is just that crap.

A progressive display is done at the hardware level NOT software level. As long as you can play NTSC (which any RGB capabale DVD player can and almost any TV can) then it will play fine.

I don't have a progressive TV but it played fine on mine.

Nope you're right. Tartan like confusing everyone it seems!

For progressive playback you need a progressive transfer. However advertising that a transfer is progressive is daft. But then this is Tartan so a progressive transfer from them, especially one so old is something special.

Brad,
I'd like the TC most, which leaves only the Tartan NTSC DVD

You've answered your own question then. Play won't have copies forever!
