But don't you want the original "Fist" Bey commentary? :?

The Bey commentary on the Platinum FOF is a substantial improvement on the original but that wasn't bad either - even if he did trick us into thinking the guman was Steve Martin! I kept the CE for nostalgia - it was my first DVD - and it does have some exclusive features, though I don't think I'll actually watch them again. Bey's commentaries are fun but they can get a bit tiresome after you've listened to 100 of the buggers.

He even apologised for that gag on the PE saying he was ill advised to say it 8)

Nope. The new one is as good as the old.

You got rid of your OUATIC HKLs which have the only Bey commentaries.

I loved that some people actually believed this!

Same thing with saying Rick Baker was in Way of the Dragon!

Beats Ric Meyers, who makes outlandish claims such as that Gordon Liu was the original choice for the lead in a Yul Brynner film, without a trace of irony

18 rating cool, does it deserve it? I've not checked out my HK DVD yet. Oh wait pre-release cover art often has an 18 rating.

Ultra-bit, WTF!!! That must be a new way of saying Superbit, which is of course copyright. I guess it just means they've used a decent bitrate for them, which on it's own doesn't mean much.

So is FOF. What's your point? You sounded surprised I didn't want both Bey commentaries when you got rid of your OUATIC Bey commentaries

New Police Story is a '15' unless there's something contentious in the extras?

I thought it might be. Pre-release cover art like I said often gets a top rating, it makes it easier to then move it down later.

Last Hurrah for Chivalry would be interesting to watch, to see how John Woo approached the swordplay genre.

Last Hurrah is fantastic. I don't know if it really was one of the last great old school swordsman films, but it definitely has such feeling all over it. You just know you're watching something great. Personally I think it equals to Woo's other masterpieces. A friend of mine, who also loves Woo, couldn't understand why I was getting so excited about it, though.

The film is very similiar to Woo's later work, actually. All the usual Woo themes (friedship between men, heroic bloodshed, huge bodycount etc.) can be found here.

I hope HKL has a correct print. I skipped the HK Video because it cuts off the black screen at the end of the movie (sound meaningless, but it's actually a very important scene. The movie ends with (a very effective) freeze frame with the beautiful theme song playing. It just wouldn't work nearly as well if the song was cut off.)

Joy Sales have this coming too, right?

Last Hurrah for Chivalry can be quite disappointing if you can understand some cantonese.
All the actors speak "modern street cantonese" which doesn't suit the movie at all.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Cantonese as a language these days is very idiomatic, tis why some say it's harder to learn than Mandarin.

I guess the same as the variations on English and then again old vs. current English.

Yeah, wasn't the Mandarin on Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon a more classical form, like Elizabethan English?

Pronounced very shitty by Chow Yun-fat and Michelle Yeoh, though. :)
