Licence to Kill
A good 7 out of 10
I watched the SE of this last night and it's much better than I remember. Agreed Dalton plays Bond very much straight, which lets face it is the best way to play Bond, that's not taking anything away from Moore's interpretation though.
Craig probably plays Bond just a bit tougher but both work perfectly fine. I don't think Dalton is a better Bond than Brosnan who at the beginning at least played it straight too, just different. Both made perfectly decent Bonds.
I was getting worried it was too American, something Bond should never be. It's very much a British story, but thankfully enough British touches were thrown in to make it okay. All the prerequisite Bond touches were there (I really hope they return in future Bonds). I was pleased to see Q having a larger part than normal.
The action was decent too, you wouldn't mess with Dalton's interpretation.
But no it's not better than Casino Royale (IMO). The villain is a bit too much your typical Hollywood stereotype, right down to being a Latino (something still today Hollywood loves doing).
I can see why it failed though at the box office as after the Humour-fest of Moore and no megalomaniac villains it would come as a shock.
I fail to see why it's 15 rated, especially when Casino Royale which is much more violent is not. Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies are 15 too, why? Sure the central premise of LTK is dark but overall I didn't find it violent enough for a 15. I guess it's because there is no 12A on video, but really 12 on video thinking about it would be fine. Today it would be 12A in the cinema though.
One thing though how on earth did Bond have so much cash? He had millions at his disposal. I was it stolen from Sanchez? If so I missed that.
I've ordered TLD + LTK BOGOF. I hope TLD is also as good, I suspect it will be.

Did we see the same film? It's not at all like Lethal Weapon, it's better.

Agreed he would have but so did Craig you Dalton fanboy

. Both are as good as each other acting wise.
