Holy shit! This Korean CE/FA remastered 2-pack sounds great. I might just order it.

Link?
The good news being this Korean release is also set for a HK DVD so it should be the same but cheaper.
What is your source? Got a link? Has this been confirmed or is it just your speculation?

Sorry I wasn't ignoring you, just not posting much at all period.

Agreed it does look nice but tbh I've already bought 3 copies of CE (two R1 versions) and am pretty much done with these films. The R1 versions are already decent enough for me.

The current HK DVDs are mess so they needed upgrading but now I'm not so sure.

Please post if you do. I'd be interested to hear a second opinion on whether it's worth upgrading.

I could've sworn I read it in your post a few months back, sourced here but I guess not sorry:

That said I've quoted someone on the 21st of August a few posts up but I can't remember who or what that's from?

It's okay man.
Happy Together has already been released (assuming it's from the same set).
Oh, you meant that uber-expensive set with the lamp and the boxers. I thought that you were saying that there's another new remastered release.

It's just you misinterpreting things then. NOWHERE in ADVDG thread linked does it actually say that there's HK versions coming; just speculation that IF there's new HK CE/FA releases then there would be a good chance of them utilising the new HD remasters and the price being significantly lower.

Yep true, fingers crossed.

Hopefully it will get a release without the LE stuff and be at least 6 times cheaper. £98 :D

Hey.

CKE/Fallen Angels set is here -

http://us.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.aspx/c ... 004485955/

I'd like to know how the subs are on these films, are they Engrish or decent subs? Then I'll get rid of my CKE R1.

I got that thing yesterday and had a very brief look at both movies. The subs seemed okay to me on a cursory look, although I seem to remember reading somewhere that the quite important song in FA has been left unsubtitled (didn't check this myself).

I also own R4 FA and R3K CE (Tarantino presents version).

The DVD Times review says the subs are fine, with just 1 or 2 typos - TBH I think I can live with those.

Eva has posted a DVD Times review above.

I'm waiting/hoping for the HK version, while the Korean set isn't expensive £15 is too much for me. I've spent more than enough money on these films to pay more than £10, plus not being in keep cases it would mess my box set up.

I'll wait till next month or so then get I think - £15 is OK IMO for 2 movies.

Yeah it's good but too much when I've already paid £38 for a box set containing them.

I'll be doing caps of CE R2UK Vs. R1/R3K Old Vs. R3K New and FA R4 Vs. R3K Old Vs. R3K new ...when I can be bothered.

Please create a new thread for those.
My Wong Kar-Wai comparison thread is a mess.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Nice one thanks Lourdes. The new Korean DVDs are digi-pack right? And not two keep cases.

I'd prefer two keep cases as I can then switch them in my WKW R1 box set. I'm not sure I can be bothered otherwise. I'm kind of done with these films (and unless extras packed DVDs come, probably) and it would mean having to own the film twice, for each.

That said I'm sure a proper capture comparison would help immensely :D . The DVD Times ones uses their usual tiny captures.

You could always swap the discs over, ie so the Korean discs would be in the r1 case.

Didn't notice, friend brought them over and I ripped them for later perusal. If they're any good I'll pick the set up eventually, it's cheap after all.

Will you be basing your captures on the DVD-5 rips? I presume you used DVD-5s? If so please mention this when you add your comparison.

Ugh, I'm not an idiot.

Ripping != Compressing/Reencoding.

So was that a yes or a no?

Ripping just means to copy and DVD-5 for sure and maybe even DVD-9 you re-encode (compress too with DVD-5), such as removing FIB warnings.

I guess you took a direct rip and put it on a DVD-9? Still none the wiser.

Are you using programming logic argument symbols? Please don't bother, not everyone here can understand programming jargon (eg Brad).

BTW Brad "!=" means "not equal to" in Java.

I know (and I quoted him, not you), you were confused Lourdes' usage of programming jargon so I was letting you know what he meant. Looks like you need to get more sleep so that you can think more clearly.

In other words "Ripping != Compressing/Reencoding." means that ripping is not the same as compressing/reencoding.

All I do know is neither of you are making any sense and generally people use DVD-5s for making DVD rips so I'd like to know this if/when Lourdes does his capture comparison.

p.s - You quote my name twice in your comments.
