AFAIK the Bey Biography has been in the audio menus of past HKL discs, or at least on the audio commentary selection screen.
Maybe "Cantonese" means Dolby Digital 5.1? :?
Thanks for the clarification about ATOTS ;)

I heard that HKL had a meeting with Fortune Star and passed on the negative comments about Warriors Two to them, so maybe this is the result of that ;) I wasnt going to buy The Master, but may get Duel To The Death/City on Fire etc :D

Hey,

This was posted on the latest newsletter:

LATEST NEWS

The HKL crew has been to Japan this week to shoot material for our 2005 releases. Amongst those interviewed were Yukari Oshima, who spoke at length about her experiences on Millionaires Express and Outlaw Brothers, and Riki Hashimoto, who shared a series of fascinating anecdotes on Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan.

Extra special thanks should go to Yukari Oshima who, despite having her Fujioka home practically destroyed by an earthquake, still showed up, as scheduled, for our interview!

On the other side of the world, our US team went to Atlanta, Georgia, to interview Keith Vitali about his experiences on the ‘3 Dragons’ classic, Wheels on Meals. All coming soon on HKL!!

3 Dragons? 3 Brothers surely? Wasn't Keith in Tai Chi Boxer as well? (He was that really muscly guy Jackie Wu fights at the end?)

Here's a pic of the Millionaire's Express cover art:

Looking forward to this one... :)
Riki Hashimoto, who shared a series of fascinating anecdotes on Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan.
Since the only major HK film I can think of Riki working on was Fist of Fury can we expect a Platinum re-release?? (HKL if you're reading: MANDARIN MONO please!!)

Nope, that was Darren Shahlavi.

Huh Mark? What gave you that idea. All they are saying is Riki Hashimoto had something to say about Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. What gave you the idea a re-release was coming?

Mark I take it you're going to get the WOTD: IVL/FS DVD? It's bound to have Mandarin mono also.

p.s - I suggest you give your Grim hat back to Grim

I guess what Mark is wondering about is on which HKL DVD the interview will be featured.

Er, what other DVD could Riki talk about Bruce Lee on??? (Note: Jackie was Riki's stuntman on Fist of Fury so it seems a logical conclusion that his interview would releate to this particular film, no?)

I wouldn't count on it.

I think Knetan mentioned it on Minipockycinema. :) DVD Answers was the source of the info about The Master being in Mono.

I'd definitely re-buy "Fist" if we could have a remaster + Mandarin :D

The only other film Riki has been in is (I think) Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Stars, so maybe thats the tenuous link they're making. He can talk about Jackie there (wasn't that a 3 Brothers film like Millionaires Express?), but that still leaves Bruce...
One to ask Brian White methinks...? ;)

You guys crack me up. People can discuss whatever they like in an interview. Just because Riki is going to talk about Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan it doesn't mean a secret DVD is in the pipeline  .
Markgway wrote:Er, what other DVD could Riki talk about Bruce Lee on??? (Note: Jackie was Riki's stuntman on Fist of Fury so it seems a logical conclusion that his interview would releate to this particular film, no?)
Any he has featured in/worked on.

All HKL have said is he has something interesting to say about Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. It doesn't matter if Riki starred in the film for him to do this.

It's common for interviewees to go off topic and discuss other things.
Markgway wrote:I wouldn't count on it.
Why do you say that? Haven't the previous IVL remasters had Cantonese DTS, Cantonese DD5.1, Cantonese mono and Mandarin mono?
grim_tales wrote:I think Knetan mentioned it on Minipockycinema. :) DVD Answers was the source of the info about The Master being in Mono.
Can you please post your sources links. I believe you but it is better to read it from the source.

I don't read DVD Answers but a screenshot alone isn't proof. How do they know it's not fake? Was the screenshot given to them by HKL?
grim_tales wrote:I'd definitely re-buy "Fist" if we could have a remaster + Mandarin :D
I'd re-buy it if they released the current IVL remaster on it's own.

Oh well then, must be true!!

Honestly I've never heard of him being in any HK film other than Fist of Fury. I suppose it could've been a cameo in Twinkle, Twinkle... but I wouldn't count on it.

Er, yeah Bradley. But what film could they put an interview with Riki on that would be remotely relevant to Jackie AND Bruce AND Himself? Fist of Fury is the only film that covers those bases. I may be putting 2+2 together and coming up with 5 but don't act like my suggestion is crazy. Now that HKL have access to Fortune Star's remasters it is a possibility they could re-issue their Bruce collection.
Any he has featured in/worked on.

Really? I would've thought it mattered quite a bit. OK, you've got Dragons Forever and Wheels on Meals upcoming for Jackie, but Bruce lee? Where would that possibly fit in?
It's common for interviewees to go off topic and discuss other things.
That's not going O/T, that's starting O/T!!

Brad here is a look at the menus and artwork (and the original artwork).

LOL I like how they say Unleashed is a box-office hit, it hasnt even been released yet! :D

http://www.dvdanswers.com/index.php?c=6060

According to the press release (presumably what they got from HKL) the originial Mono is present. :)

:D

It's a pity HKL have got any interviews with Jet Li on this DVD. He can speak good English now also.
Markgway wrote:Er, yeah Bradley. But what film could they put an interview with Riki on that would be remotely relevant to Jackie AND Bruce AND Himself?
I go back to what I said originally. It doesn't need to be relevant. The interviewee just needs to want to have some remarks about them.

Donnie Yen for example has mentioned Bruce Lee many times in his HKL DVDS. AFAIK he's never actually worked with him and nor did Bruce Lee have anything to do with these films
Markgway wrote:Now that HKL have access to Fortune Star's remasters it is a possibility they could re-issue their Bruce collection.
Possible but not likely.

They've already spent money releasing two versions of WOTD and then there's the box set they released. That had high production values.
Markgway wrote:That's not going O/T, that's starting O/T!!
HuH?
Haven't the previous IVL remasters had Cantonese DTS, Cantonese DD5.1, Cantonese mono and Mandarin mono? - No.
Is a well done Mandarin DD5.1 soundtrack better than a Cantonese Mono soundtrack?

At least you get Mandarin on these DVDS then.
grim_tales wrote:Brad here is a look at the menus and artwork (and the original artwork).
I wonder why no other website has these???

Thanks btw.

LOL tops

Hmmm. It's not mentioned on HKL's own website nor is it mentioned on any other website (including DVD Times).

That's totally different. Donnie mentions Bruce on one of HIS films. The ONLY HK film Riki Hashimoto has made is Fist of Fury. What other DVD could he be on? OK, let's say they use Riki's talk on Jackie on one of Jackie's upcoming movies. Where does Bruce fit in? Riki can't talk about Bruce Lee on anything other than a Bruce Lee film as it would otherwise be irrelevant. You understand yet????? :!:
Possible but not likely.
Wouldn't be so sure. I've heard "RUMOURS" about a new release of 'The Big Boss' in the works.
They've already spent money releasing two versions of WOTD and then there's the box set they released. That had high production values.
Maybe they've morphed into Tartan??

They must have some reason/connection for asking him to talk.

Do you understand me yet?
Markgway wrote:A rock and a hard place.
Which would you listen to?
Markgway wrote:Wouldn't be so sure. I've heard "RUMOURS" about a new release of 'The Big Boss' in the works.
I hope that's not true. I don't mind re-releases if A: we warned but more importantely B: If the current DVD is rubbish. If it's the latter then I'm actually all for it.

But TBB like the other BL films is fine. It doesn't need a re-release. That would only leace FOF left. What more could they do to it? Yes I know Mandarin but that's not going to happen.

A FS remastered print. That can be said for almost all of HKL's titles.

Where did you hear about it anyway? Do you have a source?

Mark's post was so good Brad, that you quoted it twice! ;)
Mark, do you think its worth emailing Brian about a "Fist" or "Boss" re-release? The only thing that would make "Boss" better is Mandarin and finding the other lost scenes. 8)

Apart from the Canto, the HKL "Fist" is excellent. :) I like the menus and trailer with the cool, haunting melody, and it was one of my very early DVDs (5th one). :D

Yes I know Mandarin but that's not going to happen.
No reason why it couldn't happen -- and HKL could use the superior Fortune Star remaster. At least they would have an excuse for repackaging their films rather than some lame ass box set.
Where did you hear about it anyway? Do you have a source?
Nothing official. Rumours like I said. Might not happen.

I think I know what is meant. Which films are HKL releasing in which Riki appears in? Why should they feature an interview with him on a DVD of a film he was not involved in.

Take Jacky Cheung for example. He was in "Bullet in the Head" and hence he was featured on the DVD of this film. What he talks about is a totally different thing. (Although he also talked about Bruce Lee which was featured in the special disc of the Bruce Lee Commemorative Box Set).

Why should a Jacky Cheung interview be featured on the DVD of "The Odd Couple" for example? He wasn't involved in the film?

The HKL films Rikki was involved in are TTLS and FoF and that's it? Why should his interview be put on an HKL DVD of a film he was not involved with at all?
