Just noticed this showing in Japan just now. It's a TV remake of the 1981 film of the same name, where a wee girl suddenly becomes the leader of a yakuza clan.
There's a cool neon poster of it in Shibuya. I'll see if I can get a photo of that. BTW, it's the same chick from Crying out Love, at the Centre of the World (movie version).
Sweeeeet. Although I doubt the TV series will ever receive an English subtitled release... The first episode was quite smart (even though I couldn't understand what everyone was saying).
Pardon the obvious but it is very J-dorama in style - especially in terms of whacky humour, melodrama and the "what have we learned today" bit at the end of the episode.
Having said that, her reasons for becoming leader are a tad more believable than the movie.
Also (a first for J-dorama surely), there are boobies (albeit minor glimpses).
Whilst the series fixes the odd issue from the film (including a more climactic machine gun finale), the repetitive j-dorama style (especially those bloody flashbacks) becomes very tiresome. Overall, I much preferred the film to this. Thankfully they only made seven episodes and didn't milk it longer than necessary.
Don't suppose either Hung or Shing have had a chance to watch this?
