According to Rewind/DVD Compare the French and German R2's are uncut and anamorphic, so they are a better bet than the R1 which is uncut but non-anamorphic
I wasn't saying I did but I'd still like to see the film uncut.
I was surprised when I heard about the cut footage too - I thought that was the whole point of PG-13?
I'm not sure what the first film to get a PG-13 was, but the last one to escape it was Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. It was this movie (and Gremlins) that caused the introduction. Parents were complaining about the horror and violence in PG movies. At one stage the MPAA gave Temple of Doom an 'R' until Spielberg begged for mercy - as he did with Poltergeist and Jaws.
I've seen countless movies given a PG-13 for a single use of strong language so why Big escaped is a mystery to me? But then maybe 1988 was a slack year for the MPAA as they also let slip Spaceballs and Beetlejuice. Both PG, both one use of 'fuck'.
Have you forgotten already ?
