Did Hapkido ever have a Cantonese dub?

Even though Mandarin is the original, I would have liked a Cantonese track if there is one available.

OH well can't have everything.

Broken Oath was one of the last Mandarin films from Golden Harvest. They might have done a Cantonese dub for VHS - but if they did I've never heard (of) it.

Heroic Trio 2: Executioners has been passed uncut by the BBFC.
It even got a 15 rating instead of the old 18 rating.

EXECUTIONERS

Video
Feature
Classified 19 June, 2006 .
Run Time 93m 2s

Dubbed, Widescreen,
Advice for consumers
Concise Contains strong violence
Language Some, moderate
Sex/Nudity None
Violence Some, strong
Other None

The main spoken language in this work is English.
The BBFC has placed this work in the MARTIAL ARTS genre(s).

When submitted to the BBFC the work had a running time of 93m 2s.
This work was passed with no cuts made.

At the time of classification Contender Entertainment Group was the holder of the rights or the brand name for this work.

Directed by Ching Siu Tung; Johnny To Producer(s) Siu-Tung Ching; Johnny To

The cast for this work includes: Maggie Cheung, Anita Mui, Michelle Yeoh.

Been a while since I saw Executioners but I found it rather bleak and too dark for its own good, contrasting with the fun, OTT first film.

Which one was part 2 again? The first one was the one with the kidnapped babies, wasn't it?

That press release for Hapkido is naff. It claims the film is a forerunner to Fist Of Fury when in fact it came out months later - unless there's an earlier Korean release date - and implies Jackie Chan is one of the stars when he's practically invisible

And it is typical of HKL's attitude to its customers that despite the repeated requests of people like myself and Chen Lung - who moderates their forum, no less - HKL has not included the original English dub in mono. Chances are the English dub on the disc will be a new one entirely, which is silly because there's a portion of the old school fanbase who will insist on the old dub and therefore might purchase a bootleg instead. I can grudgingly live without the choice but it's silly of HKL not to cover their bases

hey,

no excuse AT ALL...BUT, maybe they thought they were doing us a favour by replacing the old dub with the word "kung-fu" sloppily dubbed over with "hapkido" and "correcting" things with this new one. Maybe.

Wasn't inspired by the IVL Trilogy packaging by any chance? ;)

The old school dub I have does not have the dub-over - but my copy is taken from the US release, Lady Kung Fu. The dub is typical old school HK, not one redone in the US like The Big Boss

I guess Heroic Trio is coming soon too then. I hear Executioners is awful, right?

I have the Remastered Universe Heroic Trio DVD but haven't got around to watching it. If it wasn't for the cast I wouldn't have bought it, it looks awful.

Cheers. It fits rather well with the new ABT cover too.

I didn't know there was a remastered Universe DVD of HT :? I have the old letterbox release.
True Executioners is not as good as the first film but Heroic Trio is great fun.

Whoa! I love the HKL cover of ABT 2. What a shame the disc will probably suck.

Jeez LD give it a chance. AFAIK all the recent low on extras HKL releases have had great AV which quite frankly comes first.

It's not really Remastered.

Years back Universe Laser went back to loads of their old catalogue titles and slightly improved the PQ, added woeful DD5.1 remixes (in the case of Heroic Trio I believe the remix isn't to bad) and also added removable subs.

It's that sort of remix. A few examples are:

Tai Chi Master
Fong Sai-Yuk
Fong Sai-Yuk 2
Heroic Trio

If it has removable subs it will be the "so called" Remastered version.
