According to Jackie himself there won't be. It will be a very serious and dark crime film. He said that after "New Police Story" he played a general and an archeologist in "The Myth". So two roles in one movie. Next he played in a 100% comedy film. And after that he would play a very serious character in Derek Yee's "Shinjuku Incident". According to Jackie he wants to show his versatility as an actor.

I believe he can do it. People will just have to accept it. Friends of mine were disappointed by "New Police Story" as they weren't used to a crying and serious Jackie. They were expecting to watch JC slapstick and JC as the clown again.

Over the years, Jackie has put himself into a category out of which he will have a hard time to escape. Not so Jet Li (apart from the martial arts factor).
i'm looking forward to that Shinjuku project you're talking about. I love seeing Jackie in a more serious and realistic role.

HOWEVER... New Police Story was dissapointing. Jackie's acting was over the top, and because the rest of the story was so ridiculous, with comic-book 2-dimensional villains in ugly clothes and hairdo's, it seems way out of place. The whole movie was set-up like a slick action-flick with OTT villains, and Jackie is trying to realistically play a depressed drunken ex-cop. It just seemed a bit out of place.

I liked both Rush Hours as movies, but when judged on ACTION, I dont rate them all that high. I quite liked Shanghai Knights (which was a big surprised, as I thought Shanghai noon was boring as hell), but it's a shame the fights were cut short.

Jet Li; I LOVE jet Li. Great martial artist, and a great actor. Yes, I said GREAT. Ok... maybe just VERY GOOD (he isnt near Leslie's or Tony's level).

Kiss of the Dragon would have been a great movie, if it wasnt for 3 things:
1: Fonda, one of the most annoying characters in a movie EVER. Totally ruins the flick.
2: The editing/framing of the fightscenes. Although nowhere near as bad as Bourne Supremacy, it isnt very good either.
3: the ridiculous acupunture ending of the villain. not only wuld I have prefered a main villain that can fight, but it was unnecesarily bloody/gory as well. I dont mind gore and blood all that much, but I do when it's got no other purpose then being bloody and gory.

...It's an anjoyable movie to watch though. I believe I rated it a 9/10 in my review afterI had first seen it (in Hong Kong)
Jet is cool as hell in the flick, and it's got a nice story, plus it moves along at a nice pace. As an actionflick, especially as a western actionflick, it's just a pretty good movie.

I agree.
RitB is a dark and good film, but the kinda childish ending, somehow ruined that dark atmosphere...

When I first heard about J&J Project yesterday, I thought this would just be a rumour. But now, that this news is also on Jet Li´s Homepage, I´m just so excited and so looking forward to it.
Although Li said that he wouldn´t do period martial arts movies anymore I hope this one will be one.

All the other projects Jackie wants to do in the future also look very interesting. I didn´t know that Shinjuku Incident was going to be a yakuza flick, where do you have this information from?

I just hope that Jackie will recover soon from the injury he suffered during the shooting of Rob-B-Hood and that they get a good director. I´m thinking of Sammo Hung or someone like this.
Wilson Yip - the director of S.P.L. would also be great...

With the news of this Jackie-Jet project I have something to look forward again...

WHAT??? Man, that's probably one of the most brutal situation Jackie got into in any of his films. They almost kill him as he is literally bombed with smashing bottles. He's totally covered in blood and loses his consciousness. His body is motionless and every now and then it twitches. I have never seen Jackie in such a situation before and was really shocked back when I saw it at the theatre upon release.

Definitely do, mate.

Another Jackie scene which I thought was really brutal (but nowhere near to the same extent as the RitB-scene) is the scene in DM2 when Jackie Chan and Felix Chan are imprisoned and beaten up by multiple boxers.

I like Rumble in the Bronx, but although it has some darker moments (guy getting stuffed in a woodgrinder, the alleyway-scene), the dumb-ass 'villains' who are dressed like some dancers from an 80's Paula Abdul video, plus the whiney kid in the wheelchair, the hot badass sistah in leather, and the aforementioned ending (not too mention the always horrible dubbing), just makes it a cheap popcon action flick.
Entertaining? Certainly.
Good? Mwah...
Serious? No.

I'll get the R1, uncut international version (if that makes sense) and anamorphic.
I still can't picture the scene, I didnt realise the UK DVD was that heavily cut (42 seconds).

I have the totally uncut Speedy VCD. But it is unwatchable due to the worst picture quality ever and really unreadable subs.

There is also an alternate scene to the international version in it. On the rooftop, Romeo doesn't show his butt, and instead shows his middlefinger or so.

If anyone can make Jackie into a good actor it's Derek Yee.

I liked Kiss of the Dragon quite a bit. My only complaint was that Jet's character suffered from "Chinese male = Eunuch syndrome" whereby all Chinese men are asexual beings who show no interest in women only violence. It would've been more realistic if Jet knobbed Bridget at least once; but not even a tongue kiss. I thought Fonda did her job well enough (she's supposed to be trashy and whiny isn't she?) and the ending was delightfully nasty (blood pouring out the villains' eyes? Check!) :D

I thought Unleashed (that's the version I saw) was good too, but tried to punch above its weight a bit. If you're gonna compete on dramatic terms, you need a better script.

The alley scene is still in the 15 cert UK video but it's cut down by 42 secs (even though the American version had already been shortened from the original HK edit in an inexplicible (and failed) attempt to gain a PG-13 from the MPAA). The 15 cert UK cinema version suffered no BBFC cuts and was the same as the New Line R-rated DVD.

It's not hard you just have two windows open and copy/paste each section into one window. I do it all the time, it's not difficult!

I agree. Lost in Time was sentimental manipulative garbage, but the acting was excellent.

I'll buy it when it's released uncut, which'll probably be when hell freezes over. Fuck you Bob & Harvey Weinstein, Di$ney and Warner.

What do you think my friends... is this Jackie-Jet-Project going to be a Hollywood, HK or even a French production?

What would you like best?

I hope it´s going to be from HK! If not I´d still be happy, if the movie was produced in France... as long as they don´t use any rap-music (Kiss of the Dragon...).
