No. There were two releases: the Bruce Lee box set and the Dragons Box set (with that Brandon Lee film). For some incomprehensible reason the original release (Bruce Box) came with good cantonese mono, but Dragon's Box set was 5.1 only.
Cool thanks. Might buy that doublepack which has Legacy of Rage & WOTD then.

Top notch video and sound is what's most important in the end and it has been delivered.

But not if the price is still the same as before.

Meh. The price will fall over time like it alway does. I'm usually in no hurry to see/buy films, so I'm normally rewarded with bargains.

You get these as review copies for free anyway, so what do you care?

EvaUnit02 wrote:But are WotD and GoD PEs gonna be re-released with new transfers? I'm guessing not, since HKL are lazy these days.
I seriously doubt we'll see HKL release a third DVD of WOTD.
EvaUnit02 wrote:The way I see it, Bruce's footage is the main feature of the release, the Brucexploitation film is an extra.
Agreed and like most extras I've not bothered with GOD as yet.
EvaUnit02 wrote:EDIT: Whoops, didn't read all the former recent posts in the thread.
Maybe I shouldn't buy the PE boxset then and just buy them individually (like the rest of you) since I already have one of the PE's?
I'll just be getting TBB: PE (maybe) as I only need to upgrade that one but as you only need one of them personally I'd trade it and get the box set.
grim_tales wrote:Shame BOSS probably won't have a Bey commentary, unless its the same one. :(
Why? You say yourself they can just re-use the same commentary.

they can't use the same commentary if they use a different print as apparently the fortune star has different footage :?

It was compared to the US Fists Of Fury prints - I don't know how the Fortune Star compares

Technically they could as it's been done before but they may not bother. For example on the cut UK Die Hard WAV it has the same commentary from the uncut R1.

Assuming HKL use the same print as the IVL release (of The Big Boss) it wouldn't take much re-editing to re-apply the Bey Logan commentary from the Media Asia print. The difference is only a matter of secs here and there. If HKL managed to get the Director's Cut then would be different...

 @ Grim :D , no way man there are very few people who can beat Bey in HK commentaries IMO. It's not his wealth of knowledge that's important as others I'm sure others are as good/nearly as good, it's how how he's so experienced with recording commentaries.

So many commentators are really dull and monotone to listen to.

I think even a second here and there would put it out of sync.

Better than no commentary, no? I know Bey is the Lord of Commentaries :D But without him HKL DVDs now look very sparse.

Haven't received anything in a while. To be exact ever since "Fist of Fury: PE". I guess since Brian White and my other contact at HKL are gone, they seem to have stopped caring about reviewers. Or maybe just about me as Im located outside the UK.

Not if you edit it properly which any half decent engineer could do.

Pity Duel To The Death didn't have that - it's way out of sync.

TBH, I haven't listened to Bey Logan's commentaries in ages. Don't know why - his info is indispensable.

Agreed.

More reason to keep the old commentary then.

Review of She Shoots Straight. Sounds like the the transfer and sound are up to scratch, that's all that matters at the end of the day.

Notice the reviewer starts off with the English dub and then says Cynthia Robinson was in Police Assassins. Um, who?

Big whoop if he's a bit ignorant about a niche film genre. You don't have to have fucking Bey Logan's encyclopedic knowledge to review an HK film, it's just a popcorn movie not fucking Citizen Kane.
