Last capture aside that looks like a decent HKL DVD.

From memory this was one of their best remasters.

Been having trouble with PowerDVD. I'll get these caps done in the next hour or two.

The HKL is one of their nicer efforts, the 5.1 sound is on the quiet side and there's an awkwardly placed layer change, but it holds up well.

The HKL looks better but what about things like bitrates?
So the HKL has two sets of title cards? I assume one is an extra?

No, it's superimposed when in play. It says so in the damn comparison!

The HKL is sharper and richer, but suffers a visible squash.

They seemed to do that a lot. I think they were trying to avoid the distortion on the sides but overall it doesn't help. Same goes for some of the Dragon Dynasty titles.

Probably not something you'd notice when watching the disc, but in side-by-side comparison it's obvious. I was planning on getting the Joy Sales for the mono anyways.

If only we were all as intelligent as you. You could've answered my question quicker instead of just being a dick.
Seriously, can someone explain?

When you play the film the MIRACLES superimposition shows up.
But if you rewind or fast-forward and can pause it then you see the original LADY ROSE title underneath.
I just posted two caps to illustrate what HKL did.
Joy Sales on the other hand just redid the title card from scratch.

Thanks, that's just bizarre. I take it it's known more as Miracles in The UK or generally?

The rental VHS was called Miracles, but they changed it for the retail release to The Canton Godfather (see Keung's post). Both titles are widely used, but Miracles is the most common. However the original title is Mr. Canton and Lady Rose.

I'd sell mine for like a fiver if you're interested? Mint condition and has the slipcase.

I don't like how the Joy Sales removes the "guns & roses" look of the original titles.

Take a look at the title card caps again for both releases.
Not sure if this if one of those 'redone credits' efforts Fortune Star did, like on Fearless Hyena (I'd really love to see a remaster of the rare original sequence).
