Fair point. I only meant next to a £99 Sony and the fact Sharp's aren't owned enough to trust, IMO.

We got the 40" Sony KDL V4000 at the New Year.

Haven't had a chance to check out any HD signals yet but the TV got great ***** reviews.

If you're considering HDTV or Blu-Ray I would suggest going for a 40" screen. Anything less will diminish the impact.

If I can fit 28" CRT I can fit 37" LCD/Plasma - as they're physically the same size. I need to look at it though to convince otherwise I'll end up going back to a 14" portable. ( ) As far as I can see I'd hardly be craning upwards to watch 32"/37" FGS!

You're probably right but with LED costing a bomb and the fact they're still better than LCD, they're still the way to go for quality. Price aside of course.

Me either but Grim only has 28" (CRT) at the moment. I still say a TV should complement a room. I'd never go bigger than 40" in my front room, even that would probably engulf it. I hate seeing an overpowering TV in a room when it's not being used.

It's amazing how quickly a MASSIVE screen becomes a quite big one after a few months. Anything less than 40" would look too small to me now. If I bought another TV (no plans, natch) it would be at least 40", probably greater. TVs are obviously expensive so think careful before you settle on something just because it's a bit cheaper. You'll be stuck with it for a few years at any rate.

I don't. I'd like a bigger screen but no way do I crave one. I crave a new mobile phone (when Windows Mobile 7 comes), a new Car Stereo and Freeview HD way more.

I'd say I'm 75% happy with my TVs current size and no way would I go bigger than 40". I must be the only one who cares about how my front room looks, instead of dumping a 60" TV in there and not being able to see anything else. This is particularly an issue when you have parties/friends around and the TV is off. Maybe it's different as it's a front room not bedroom, which I think except for Salty accounts for everyone.

my 46 (not 60) tv is in the corner of the living room along with the amp,hi-fi,sky,ps3/bd player.how that transpires into not being able to see anything else i'm not sure what you are on about!

I do have several decent framed paintings/pictures but it's more how such a large objects sits in a room. I hate those massive American fridges too, so pointless for most.
