Now that is one I'd like to see and FSY2.
First Jet Li films watched I believe.

I want the first film to have good subtitle treatment at least, as it's comedy is quite funny for Westerners, etc. Channel 4 (UK) version shown in 1999 is the best way to see it.

Great. I'll just pop in to my H.G. Wells Time Machine, go back to 1999, record it, then return to the present and put it in my VCR, and enjoy.

Bugger I no longer have a VCR :D.

For your cheek, I will not make a DVD-R of it for you :).

No, I'd like to see them release that too. But they don't have the rights. Disney do.
Yi-long has waited so long for this and when it's finally announced he's not here.
Lol, he'll cream himself when he gets back. :D
It doesn't interest me though. I'm looking forward to Bodyguard from Beijing more.
Neither are my favourite Jet films, but I'd be inclined to give them another go.

The Ch4 showing had the immortal line: "Fuck off, Northern Git!"

Clearly someone at London headquarters found this amusing.
chenlung wrote:With a possible exception to 'AOG 2', I don't think they can take stuff released theatrically.
Nope, that one is also Disney. DD should have Part 1 though.

Doh! :D

I thought it was a rather good comment of mine too :D.

Weinstein took several Disney titles with him, as you know, hence my comment.

Me either. I gave FOL a second chance and it wasn't for me (FOF is so much better). I remember Bodyguard from Beijing being decent, we'll see.

Bloody hell it's hard work typing, when you're tipsy :D.

I loved TCM at first, but there was a bit of poor screenplay that put me off. Same with TBOB, but it's got a fair bit of shit in it too (slap finale and the inclusion of Kent Cheng).

I love FOL (MIHK VHS is probably the best way to watch it and not the theatrical subs, etc) and despite the classic status of FOF (I can understand why too), I don't like it.

What's TBOB?

IMO the best way to watch FOL is the French DVD with fan subs, both FOL and TCM French DVDs look excellent.

FOF and ETD are great IMO (especially FOF), WOTD is also good but it's a bit dull until the end. TBB is basically boring until the finale.

I wish it meant 'The Fud Who Couldn't Abbreviate A Simple Four-Worded Title Of A Film', but no - The Bodyguard Of Beijing.

I love the VHS charm, but DVD is better of course.

Sorta yeah. Screenplay's lame at times, but IMO it's the only 'normal' serious non-laugh film of BL's with proper narrative and violence, etc - the sadness of a country boy going from 'looking for good' to going worse is felt, also when we sympathise with his urge to get even.

The Big Boss is a classic. the locations and atmosphere of the film were great.and the build-up of almost an hour till Bruce entered the action was superbly done.it's a much better film than Enter, though i love that as well.

Enter the Dragon is 70s "guilty cheese". It's no Fist of Fury but it's still very watchable.

I find Enter more re-watchable than Fist, even though the latter is the far superior film. Way of the Dragon is just loony!

I agree. That's how I think of those two too.

Fist just needs a quicker pace. There are too many scenes of the Jing Wu students and Lo Wei procrastinating, and the scene where Bruce disguises himself as a phone repairman goes on too long.

Enter is badly structured but is so damn cool!

I love em all! Even Game of Death!

To the non-theatrical releases.

So Fist of Legend, yes. Iron Monkey, no.

Brad, please don't try to teach anyone here anything about HK cinema.

I wasn't, fuck off you patronising git!

Disney used to have the rights to many of Dragon Dynasty titles, before Weinstein took them with him . The last thing I'd do is teach Hong Kong cinema to members on this forum, when many know more than me anyway, what an idiotic thing to say.

There was no need to be so bloody rude about it. Who are you going to patronise next?

Innuendo!

And yeah, I shouldn't be fucking up the proper titles - I do own the Indian VCD, Japanese and WV US DVDs after all. Also watched the Dimension version.

Don't worry, Chen Lung. I was just joking with you (using your words back at you). I'm sure you got that - unlike that tool Brad. Brad knows less than most people here about most things yet still feels the entitlement to lecture people. How bizzare!

True, Brad may not get everything right in this genre (no offense mate :)), but he is polite enough.

So are you trying to possibly say you were joking with me too? If not that there wasn't exactly anything for me to miss, was there.

That's rich, considering your enjoyment to lecture people yourself ;).

I've never lectured anyone on this forum about HK cinema. I'm well aware you know far more than I do and I'd ever want to know.

And let us not forget Brad's insistence that Panmedia did not do bootlegs.
