The 19th for me. It's weird as the backlog seems to be dealt with.

It'll be a right kick in the teeth if after all the waiting, I/we receive a copy with the duplicate disc problem.

Which version should I buy, HD-DVD or Blu-ray?

I'll have a HD-DVD drive TOMORROW, but won't be getting a Blu-ray player (it'll either be a ROM drive or a PS3) until several months from now.

They're both identical (same encode, same extras and same audio selecion) and the BD is region free.

Make sure you get the 5 Disc Ulitmate box set whichever you get. I think it's cheapest at MovieTyme and/or Amazon.com. It's exclusive to America on HD, other countries are only getting it on DVD.

Personally I'd pick up the BD (maybe you can make a deal with Salty?) but then I've not just bought a HD-DVD Player. I guess it depends how many HD-DVDs you're planning to buy.

I got the HD-DVD, but since the january events, I suggest when you got the choice, to pick up the Blu-Ray, as it's the format more likely to stay. I try from now on, to only get exclusive on HD-DVD, be them exclusive movies, or exclusives bonuses, or sound format superior to their Blu counterpart.

Sometimes we haven't got a choice, THE PRESTIGE is available on Blu region Coded A with PCM astonishing soundtrack, the HD-DVD by warner in europe is all zones, but DD+ only, it's a wimp track, but what can you do...

Buy the USA Region A BD like me :D

Warner have released it on BD too. It's the same as the USA BD though but is Region Free.

I doubt it's a wimp track though, DD5.1 still impresses me.

I'd have preferred to get the UK BD as it's Region Free (same extras and apparently all have excellent PQ) but I wanted that Lossless PCM. The USA BD also has DD5.1 too.
