Shochiku: 1:40:17 NTSC (top)
Studio Canal: 1:36:43 PAL (bottom)
Studio Canal has some nasty cropping and the colors may be slightly "off" at times, but the sharpness is so much better that I don't really care. Irritating edge enhancement, though. But, I haven't watched the whole dvd yet, so this is no definitive comparison.

Yep, apart from some edge-enhancement the StudioCanal looks better IMO.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

Examples of edge-enhancement in this very subforum:
-Musa: PA cap N°2, top of the carriage. PA last cap, top of the castle.
-Swordsman: FS last cap, under Sam Hui's sword.
-OUATIC 3: HKV cap N°2, around Rosie Kwan's chin.

Yup, highly likely that the Momentum DVD uses the Studio Canal master.

Looks like the same transfer (same framing). The difference in colours, brightness etc. is probably caused by incorrect dvd-player settings. I have actually seen the UK disc with my own eyes and even though I can't remember how it looked like it sure didn't look like those caps. So, I think Momentum is a safe bet (and also very cheap).

Dude... "Monumentum"..."Combining"... Your finnish origins are really showing today.
Minä en ymmärrä suomea, but still... Adding syllables in the middle of words is typically finnish.

I read "My good friend Michael Jackson...".
I need to get some sleep...
