What is your best gaming achievement?

Post by grim_tales »

What is the highest score/furthest level etc you've ever got on a game? :D

I remember getting to about Level 14 (?) on the BBC Master game "Mr. Wiz" back in the day :D
Just managing to complete Ikaruga at all (can't remember how many credits I used), and getting 128 lines on Tetris (the original Game Boy version). :)

Probably my greatest gaming achievement is completing Far Cry without any cheats at all on Realistic difficulty.

Anyone who has played Far Cry on even the easiest difficulty will know that it is quite an achievement. It took me just under a month to do, playing just about every evening.

There were some damn annoying parts that I just kept getting killed on over and over again, but I persevered and eventually I managed to complete each and every level...

I'd give my right nipplenut to play a working version of that game again!

Do you remember Granny's Garden or The Lost Frog IM? Class :D

Sorry but that I find that funny, because we've all been there (not on a computer game for me though).

GoldenEye: Finished the level 'Facility' on 00Agent within the set time limit to achieve the cheat for invincibility.

Took me damn long.

Greatest achievement ?

I completed Wing Commander 3, 4 and Prophecy (If you don't know what that is, you don't know what you're missing ) all in 12 hours flat. That's gotta be close to the world record. :D

I've completed Half-Life 2 in less than 4 hours (in hard mode / and I was taking my time to do it properly ).

I've of course completed Wolfenstein 3D, Hexen, Heretic, Doom 1, Doom 2, Duke Nukem 1, 2 & 3D, Half-Life 1, Opposing Force, Medal of Honor, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Far Cry (in hard mode).

Yes I like First Person Shooters.
I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

I've completed both Virtua Cop games on Hard mode with no cheats when I had my Sega Saturn and a light gun - makes it so much easier to aim than a mouse! :P

I've also completed Duke Nukem 3D, The Ultimate Doom, Doom II, No-One Lives Forever 2 and Call Of Duty on the PC, to name a few.
Tom2681 wrote:I've completed Half-Life 2 in less than 4 hours (in hard mode / and I was taking my time to do it properly ).
That's a good achievment. I'll have to try and do it as quickly as that one day, although I'm not sure how you managed it so quickly... I've seen the speedrun video which I think was done in about 2 hours but that was by using quirks of the game...

Half-Life and Opposing Force are 2 of the best FPS games ever in my opinion.

As for Far Cry, have you tried playing through on Realistic mode yet? That has to be one of the most challenging games I've ever played! It's much harder than Half-Life 2, which to be honest was too easy, even on Hard mode.
Tom2681 wrote:Yes I like First Person Shooters.
Good man! They're my favourite game style as well.

I have about 25 games for my PC, and I think 23 or 24 of them are FPS games.

On my XBox (which I've only had for about 3 or 4 months) I've already got:

- Doom 3: Limited Edition (includes Doom & Doom II!)
- Halo
- Halo 2
- Pariah
- TimeSplitters 2
- TimeSplitters: Future Perfect
- Unreal Championship
- Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict

I am now getting back into my racing games that I hate playing on PC. I recently got Forza Motorsport and it is class! I've also got Colin McRae Rally 2005, OutRun 2, Project Gotham Racing 2 and The Simpsons: Hit & Run (a bit of a guilty pleasure game - daft but lots of fun!).

Same here. I have absolutely everything unlocked in that game, and I spent days trying to get the cheat on Facility.

I seem to remember that it also took me a while to get the cheats on Train and Control...

thelostdragon, did you ever play Perfect Dark? I haven't done even half of that! Now that I've got an XBox, I've just got used to using the walk & aim controls the other way round, so its a nightmare trying to go back to the N64 controller...
