London gets Olympics 2012

Post by grim_tales »

:o I didnt expect this:

http://www.msn.co.uk/htx/london2012/

It will cost a lot of money etc, but I'm sure it will do a lot of positive things for London and the whole UK. :)
As Madonna said "Music makes the people come together" - well so does sport ;)

Discuss ;)

I used to be "the man who loves the movies you hate".
Now I'm just "that weird french guy with a cat avatar who comes to BnB once a year for no reason and then disappears again".

I had no idea Moscow and New York were also in the bidding.

It just reminds me of the stupid so called rivalry between France and the UK. Sure it's centuries old but always seemed to be petty to me (well for the last few years anyway).

Is there a lot of British bashing in France Tom? Actually bashing is to strong of a word but you know what I mean.

Yeah great 2-4 weeks (or however long it's on for) of TV covered in it and shows being changed around to suit. Great I can't wait!

I was rooting for France :D (actually any other country, Moscow would've been the unusual choice).

I see your point Grim but I just fnd it nigh on impossible to care at all about sport in any shape or form. Being "forced" to do it at School didn't help!

Oh yes. Over here we hate Ze Rosbeefs. :D
Nah, just j/k. I think that Frogs bashing in Britain is on the same level as Rosbeef bashing in France.

Since I don't have any problem with Britain or any other country I was pretty disgusted to see all those french people spitting in the streets and cursing the British today. All in the name of sport. :x

I still manage to be a Formula 1 enthusiast (even after the famous Indianapolis fiasco) but I have given up on all other sports.

I see what you mean Brad I didnt like some sport at school either  :D
Some of it was OK though. I quite liked football et al. :)
Surely the Olympics will bring lots of money/jobs to the UK - anyway while London "hosts" the Olympics, some events will be over the country I'm sure. :)

Yes it will bring lots of money in but will it bring it what it costs? I'm not sure probably.

The thing is it all comes down to centuries of thinking differently about the same thing.
