If the English Dub on the HKL is a new dub added to the Cantonese version why then is it 30s shorter? Are HKL going to include both versions seperately? Original English and Cantonese? That would make sense. But who knows?

Obviously the bad news here is that the Yuen Biao/Fung Shui Fan scenes have not been reinstated into the Cantonese print. If they had the run time would be around 94m. Bummer.

I havent seen DF yet but will probably get the PE anyway.

Yes, but since they're not in any version there's no point in missing out on what will probably be the best available.

Why does this movie continually recieve an 18? According to the BBFC website it was once a 15.

Maybe these scenes you speak of Mark will be in the extra's.

I'd say it's a mistaken. HKL have never released two versions before.

Thats wierd.. well the BBFC definitely say the dubbed version has been re-edited. Wonder why?

I thought the cert might have been reduced, especially considering some of the stuff that gets thru with a '15' now, but obviously not. The only incident which I can see the BBFC having a problem with is when Yuen Wah smashes Pauline Yeung face first thru a glass window. It's not graphic, but violence to a woman isn't looked too kindly upon. That's only a guess mind.

Perhaps? I haven't seen anything about deleted scenes at the BBFC yet.

I don't know anything about BBFC ratings, but I'd think the whole drugs and needles bit would be controversial. especially since Sammo seems to recover so easily after what should be a lethal overdose

I wouldn't have thought so. The BBFC are only concerned with detailed use and preperation of hard drugs. This is pretty close to James Bond type drugging. We're not told WHAT he's been drugged with, HOW it's prepared (already in the syringe) and the effect is shown to be negative; even with recovery Sammo still looks like shit. So there's no positives to be taken from that scene. Therefore I'd be extremely surprised if the BBFC would give that scene alone more than a '15'. I still think it's largely the violence to a woman that's the cause of the '18', but as I said that's only my theory.

But then again, the drug scene does show the drugs being inserted into Samo, so it could be a problem...

And those missing scenes are in the Swedish DVD with the English Dub. I dont see why those scenes aren't in every version anyway, they are vital to the plot and explains why Yuen does what he does!

Like I said I'm just calculated guessing...

The scenes seemed to go missing when Star TV took over the rights in 1993. I'm not saying they purposely cut them, but releases before that were uncut.
