Just came back from the premiere over here. Definitely the best out of all the three new episodes. It is hard to write about it without reveiling parts of the story, but I can only say that there are many scenes in which you will think, "God, please no! Don't make it happen!", although you know it is going to happen, according to the old episodes.

I thought TPM was better then AOTC! lol
AOTC had some of the most horrible acting and writing i've ever seen in a major production. Some scenes were just painful to watch. The special effects were very good for the most part (although i thought the CG Yoda looked really crappy). But overall it was just a very poor film, IMO.
Thankfully, Revenge of the Sith is much better then the other prequels, but still suffers from very poor writing in quite a few scenes.

Hi all,
yesterday night I was at the fan premiere in Melzo (at the Arcadia, the biggest screen in Europe: 32 meters wide!).
The movie and the event were hosted by Steve Sansweet http://www.starwars.com/bio/stevesansweet.html: no George Lucas, but a nice guy nonetheless.
Well, the movie lives to expectations!
The first 15 minutes were not great, with a little too much comedy relief. Then, it gets darker and darker. No gore, but the last 30 minutes were really mean... a true descent to hell!
Overall, it is MUCH better than Episode I and noticeably better than II: the sheer visual impact is something to behold, the pace is frantic, and of course the plot while predictable for a fan is still engrossing. The 2 hours of the movie rushed without fatigue, rest assured!
Minor complaints: still a couple of Dawson Creek-style scenes like in II, a too abrupt transformation from good and dumb boy to beastly killing machine for Anakin.
But you won't be disappointed...
Technical note: the movie was projected in digital format, and my scepticism towards digital had to fall. Even on such a big screen, the blacks were blacker than with any normal film print. No digital noise or flickering, saturated colors, crisp detail, and of course the beauty of no print damage... goodbye to micro scratches and dust. Sure, the equipment in Melzo is state of the art, but now I finally appreciate why Lucas chose to shoot digital. The resolution is supposed to be inferior to that of conventional film, but I certainly did not notice (and I am a photography freak, so I am particularly picky on these things).

Different... A comparison can't be made, as III is soooo polished and loaded with eye candy which at times detracts from the "genuinity" that IV, V and VI had...bradavon wrote:How does it compare to the original trilogy comparison? Pants I imagine.
Personally, I found III worthy of the original trilogy. Not up to V, but IMHO almost as good as IV and VI.

I'm surprised nobody has pointed out that the Phantom menace has the best light sabre battles of both original and prequel trilogy's. Also did anybody else notice that the light Sabres are "Fatter" in Revenge of the Sith, giving them more glare which in turn helps to cover up the less than adequate light sabre fights which were supposed to be the best yet? I checked after watching my revenge of the Sith DVD and compared with the Phantom menace and they are indeed "fatter"!
Darth Maul was the best character of the prequel trilogy in my opinion And Christopher Lee's Count Dooku was an extremely poor replacement. They should have got someone like Donnie Yen in the role tocarry on the good work of Darth Maul!
