"Underworld HK R3 DTS TC DVD" Problems
I've now ordered two copies of this DVD (one was a replacement) and both spin in my DVD player for ages followed by it being ejected saying "disc error".
It's this one:
http://www.cd-wow.com/detail_results_2. ... ffid=13858
I've tried it in my £400 Panasonic and my Dad's Grundig home DVD Recorder.
I bought it at CD WOW and have now asked for a refund. I've asked if it's a faulty batch? Which it's looking likely. It's the cheap as chips DVD from CD WOW. I don't like it enough to buy one of the better DVDs.
Has anyone else has trouble with this DVD?

I doubt it.
I thought it was a well enough made dumb action flick in the vein of "Constantine" for quality. There was little point having them be Vampires though as I believe I only saw 1 neck suck during the whole film.
Still it was fun for what it was but the sheer fact I don't want to spend more than £5/$12 says it all really.
I watched it on a very good bootleg (DivX from a DVD source with DD5.1) which I wish I hadn't deleted now
. I decided to buy the DVD as it did break up 2-3 times during the film for a few seconds.

Just out of curiosity did anybody get the unrated Extended Edition? I purchased the supremacy edition on Dutch region 2 which included the theatrical version on disc one and the extended cut on disc two, both with DTS soundtracks. I can't remember exactly what the differences were but I felt the Extended Edition filled in a couple of question marks from theatrical version making it an all-round better film.

Cheers. I now have the UK R2 TC DVD.
It's not a film that really needs to be longer so I'm not going to bother with the extended cut. The Japanese DVD looks sweet though:
Full-rate DTS ES
Extended Cut only
2nd disc of extras
p.s - I looked at that Dutch SE but decided it was to expensive. The theatrical cut on that set it strangely cropped to 1.78:1 too.

The extended edtion isnt a better film in that it will make you add a few extra stars, but it has some nice parts added into the film to make it a little better in some ways I think.
The end esspecially is far better, with masses of wolfs and vamps killing each other and it feels far more epic, as there are so many people involved blowing the crap out of each other and tearing each other to bits. The normal cut doesnt show us much of the War so to say, the extended cut shows us a lot more of the final battle between Wolfie and Vampie hordes tearing onto one another in some big shots.

£6.49 bargain, and a nice cover image too if you care for that
the R1 packaging is nice, clear slipcase with image on it and it slots onto the amaray to make a fuller picture, nice and effective
and hey the commentary on the extended version is superb! Kate is on top form, talking about camel toe and all that, its a classy commentary
I listen to more commentaries than your average joe (I listened to 4 today) and The Underworld Extended one I come back to quite a bit as its fun and informative and friendly.
I would pay 6 quid for another commentary myself

Hell yes the Japanese version looks sweet and perhaps had it been released earlier I might have got that instead of the Dutch supremacy edition. I would definitely love to have the full bit rate DTS -ES version but those damn Japanese discs cost a bomb, perhaps the better part of 30 quid and that's assuming you get through customs unscathed. My Dutch version was probably among my 10 most expensive single moviescosting me £16 to import, besides the Japanese version it seems like a pittance! It's not a film that really needs to be longer so I'm not going to bother with the extended cut. Anyway I'm still chuffed with my Dutch version which has a lovely slipcase with holographic underworld cover art work. Inside that it has a nice digipack, fold out packaging.
I'm not really one for movie commentaries but I have to agree with Romero. I've listened to that audio commentary and it was an enjoyable listen... Although if I recall correctly it wasn't recorded in one go?

That's a decent price yes.
I own the Theatrical cut DVD now and it's good enough for me, the one with the AWFUL EIV cover art. I got it in a trade so it'll do for me.
I would've gone for that UK R2 EC DVD @ £6.49 too, the trade was only completed recently. It was for some crud DVD I no longer wanted though so it's cool.
Have you guys seen the latest deal up at CD WOW:
The R1 Extended Cut DVD + A Third DVD with extras for the second movie (looking forward to that).
Sure the third DVD looks pants BUT it's they're selling it for £10.99 before vouchers. Still the Extended Cut R2 cover art is actually surprisingly good so I'd probably get that now (despite DTS being dropped).
