Donnie Yen coming out with another new film slated for an October 31 release. Here's hoping for a gritty and dark film.

Silence of the Kung Fu Lambs?

Not sure why they named it Kung Fu Jungle... I thought it was a children's film...

Agreed. They could've just gone with the very first title which was Last of the Best.

I saw the trailer a while ago, but it seems like it wants to be too many different things at once, so creepy thriller action martial arts, and usually that just means it will end up as 1 thing: crap.

Hi Yi, how are things? :)

Kung Fu Jungle makes it sound like a children's film :?

Same as always. Plotting my vengeance on the world, eating chocolate, and looking at asian porn online. Nothing special.

Same thing happened to Wu Xia and it turned out excellent. There should be more story-driven action films like this and The Raid films.

Oh, I don't mind story-driven movies (far from it), but this just seems like it can'decide what it wants to do, so it has Donnie being a bit of a creepy dude, and looks like a mix between a bunch of genres. It just looks like yet another one of those typical 'whatever' HK movies.

I think I know what you mean now: lots of those 80s/90s HK action films where the mood changes once the genre ingredients kicks in back-to-back. Wu Xia isn't like that though because technically it's a mix of traditional wu xia and mystery/thriller with action infused. This film looks like it's taking a similar approach in that it's a thriller with lots of action spread out. Think The Silence of the Lambs meets Bloodmoon and you'll get it.
