Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz.... i dont care for celebrity gossip but the very concept of those two having a successful relationship makes me desperately want to meet both of them to see what they are really like as people

Well, let's see. It's a spin-off/side-story. The last Shrek "side-story", 'Shrek 3-D', went straight to DVD.

No I don't, I mean the R1 (or R4). The UK DVD is edited.

Of course you didn't, notice the wink Mr. Grim but yes agreed it is edited, it's a different edit (which happens to be IMO the better edit).

And that had no trailer or advertising like this. I'm sure it will be a cinema release. It's the third in the story.

I'd still like to see it as it was originally shown

We were talking about the Puss in Boots spin-off, not Shrek 3.

So what exactly is the difference between the R1 and the R2? Are all R2s different or only the UK one? I have the German discs of part 1 and 2.

UK version was cut for a headbutt and certain minor characters were overdubbed by British celebrities (which ruins a number of jokes - eg a character who likes Joan Rivers and originally voiced by Joan Rivers has been over-dubbed by some random Brit celeb.) Brad thinks that this is awesome.

Oh I see. I thought they were different cuts, like scenes cut out and others added or something like that.

Yeah Eva's right, the "Joan Rivers" character has been overdubbed by Kate Thornton (now host of the X Factor over here) so the gag doesn't make any sense.
Jonathan "Woss" is one of the Ugly Sisters.

It's only the UK DVD that has alternate voices LD, all other DVDs come from the USA cut.

Brad lives in the UK so prefers to hear Jonathan Ross (who is funny) and Kate Thornton to some American actors I've barely heard of.

For me it's as simple as that. That and it's THE cut everyone in the UK (Grim and Bisc included) saw the cinema, in short it's "my" preferred cut.

There's nothing wrong with that. I wish they did it more often, especially when you can still get the R1/R4 too.

IMO I don't give a monkeys, it's just one gag. I did think "owe that's Kate Thornton" which made the film better. All IMO of course.

Fair enough on the Joan Rivers dub but the geeezer who replaced Jonathan Ross isn't even known outside of the States (not to me anyway, which is the entire point for "me" getting the UK DVD).

As for "original" cut or "director's vision" well that's bollocks, we're talking about the Shrek franchise money making machine.

Just seen this. Weakest of the three. (Not a good year for three-quels is it?).

Still fun and enjoyable mind. I'd give it a 3/5 maybe...

I'm off to see it tonight and so far it's the ONLY of the summer blockbuster that looks any good. We've had some real dross this year. I do still have high hopes for Bourne 3 though.

To keep a story fresh into three films is difficult, sadly few directors have the talent or energy to keep it up. Surely they must come up with some new ideas soon???

I've high hopes for Harry Potter - all the films have been class so far. Think it's impossible to cock it up as the stories are superb.

I saw this last night and agree it's not as good as parts 1-2. It's just not half as funny, both Shrek 1 and 2 I laughed for most of the film, not this time. There was big gaps without laughter.

The story was definitely much weaker too, and the ending sucked a bit.

That said I did certainly enjoy it, will "probably" buy the DVD and would give it a respectful 6 out of 10.

p.s - I've only seen Harry Potter 1, kids movie Brad moves on (and way too long). Still I thought the same about Lion King before I saw it (although overall Disney is still kids fodder).

You say it like it's a bad thing (kids movie). I love cartoons and kids films personally.
