"The Nuclear Warhead of Japanese Action Cinema!"

Mad enough to send fans of 80's/90's B-action movies to heaven!

Score (Japan, 1995) [DVD] – 4/5
V-cinema gone big screen in a B-cinema classic. Atsushi Muroga’s action film shamelessly rips off Reservoir Dogs, throws in John Woo action, and mixes with nonsensical “cool” dialogue. The film lacks a single idea of its own, but it’s incredibly energetic and action packed with non-stop gunplay, explosions and car chases. The cast is a collection of V-cinema tough guys playing Tim Roth look-a-like, Anthony Wong –look-a-like, and a couple of Michael Madsens + and local Filipino stuntmen performing insane stunts. The film is set in Nevada, but the police are driving cars that have Manila’s logos on them!

Whatever happened to Atsushi Muroga anyway? The guy made some pretty entertaining B-movies in the late 90ies/early 00s. SCORE, JUNK and a couple of those GUN CRAZY films all entertained me. Sure, his films were never original but I thought he was able to infuse them with a lot of energy and he's certainly capeable of shooting a decent action scene.

I guess digital video is what happened. He's still doing films, though, he was inYubari this year (he contributed one episode to a film... can't remember the title, the trailer looked lame)
