Please forgive me if this is a silly question, but I am honestly not sure and would like it confirming.

My niece/nephew have 3D glasses that they got from cineworld. Now if they went to see a 3D film at the Odeon can they use the cineworld 3d glasses, or would they have to buy the Odeon ones? Logic suggests that it doesn't make any difference and they will work. Has anyone actually done this just to confirm that it will be ok? Thanks.

Hi, there is a chance they won't be compatible, because at my cinema when they first brought out 3D we got the glasses, then next time we went they were like 'what colour are your glasses? We have different ones now because we changed the screens' and they replaced our glasses with new ones.

But of course it's worth taking them and enquiring at the desk if they will work.

You still have to pay for the glasses each time, don't you?

You don't at my cinema, you just take the glasses with you each time and it's the same price as a 2D film.

That's not standard practice AFAIK. I guess it depends on the chain?

Yeah I think most other places charge a higher fee for 3D films than 2D, I wouldn't have thought you'd have to buy glasses every time though, do you at yours or have you not been?

Yup it is all different at all different branches and companies, its a joke really.

Always take them I say, just in case you can save a quid or two.

At Odeon you get a quid off if you bring them next time. They used to charge you regardless. I think they're all gradually realising it pisses customers off.

Back to the original question: The staff are clearly not going to have a clue what another chain is using. Personally I'd take them, get new glasses (just in case), watch the film with the old glasses and if you can tell, you've not got to go out part way through and get some more but if you cannot you'll know for next time.

At worst you've thrown away a quid. I'd prefer that than having to go and get more part way through.
