Terminator 5: Series may be rebooted by Universal

Can't they just leave it alone? -

Although Cameron's involvement is interesting.

Justin Lin directed the last two The Fast and The Furious films. So basically as bad a choice as McG then, and yes I do like Terminator Salvation but McG is no Cameron.

The TV show was the best, stuff the films.

The series ends for me after T2.

Agree. T3 was OK but nowhere as good as T1 or 2.
Rebooting the series halfway through another Trilogy (?) seems stupid :?

I like and enjoyed Salvation and thought it was a grand effort for a summer blockbuster.

Can't they just give us another one without calling it a reboot?
Marketing bollux.....it's just another Terminator film put out apologetically so the hardcore fans will still go, forgetting the parts of the series they didn't like!

T1 and T2 excellent, T3 okay if I'm being kind, T4 surprisingly good. I'd like to see more Future War!

I thought T3 was the best!

:D

Actually I need to rewatch it, I haven't seen it in full since the original Cinema release! The highway chase/wrecking scene is standout though!

If you liked T4 & thought it was "surprisingly good" how then exactly do you come to the conclusion McG was a bad choice :dontknow: what you've said makes no sense whatsoever. (i thought T4 was incredibly average)

I don't need to, to know they're no T1 or T2 and Lin is no Cameron.

Do you have to keep asking me this question? Sigh.

Yes I like T4 but as I already said it's no T1 or T2 and should've been better but again yes I do like it (and do own it). T3 is the weak one.

You are making ignorant statements without even seeing the films in question. Simple.

So, Salty and Romero.... how exactly does shit taste?

TBH, and I know this is quite rare, but I agree with Brad on this one. (you might want to bookmark this occasion for the day people are writing my biography and ask about that day I agreed with Brad)

You don't HAVE to watch a movie to have a general idea on how good it is or isn't. You have trailers, reviews, messageboards, etc etc. I'm pretty damn sure you CAN actually say that the FATF flicks are NOT as great as the first 2 Terminator flicks, and that Justin Lin might not be suited for making a Terminator movie.

Oh well, Justin Bieber in the role of young John Connor it is...

. utter bollocks, sorry.like i said i haven't seen F&F 3 & 4 but clearly they are movies that appeal to the masses.i'll comment on them when i like, you know watch them.

On what grounds?Brad reckons McG was a bad choice then says he likes T4.How many of Justin Lin's films have you seen?Maybe they should get Ron Howard, you like him.

i doubt he'd be any less suitable than the bland Bale

Britney Spears music also appeals to the masses. Doesn't mean she's a good singer.

Me and Brad, which was the comment I was referring to.

I think I'd prefer a slow-burning serious Terminator movie over a flashy hyped up style-over substance teen-flick with bright neon colors and MTV-editing. But hey... that might be just me.

Ow, I'm not a fan of Bale either. I also don't really like him as Wayne/Batman. He seems to be quite overrated as an actor.

i don't get why either of you would compare T1 & T2 to F & F flicks. Seems like it's Cameron or no-one for you guys.Yet his last two films have been long winded bores (though incredibly successful).Him returning to the franchise would be no guarantee of a return to the franchise's glory days. And i'm afraid we'll have to disagree on this utter bollocks of rating movies you haven't seen.it's pretentious twaddle and a ploy Brad likes to use to hide the fact he actually watches very little.Sure i can say i don't fancy something (i'd sooner drink my own piss than watch Elizabeth The Golden Age but i'm sure it's a well made movie)but declaring a film a dud by watching a trailer or reading a forum is just lazy.

You haven't seen me mention Cameron anywhere. Im sure there are lots of directors who could do a fine job with the Terminator license. I'm just having slight doubts that the guy from the Fast and the Furious flicks would be one of them.

You & Brad are the ones comparing Cameron's Terminator flicks to Lin's F & F ones.So indirectly,you are

That can work both ways though-i'm sure when Ridley Scott was announced as the director for Hannibal it was met with probably almost universal approval-and look how that turned out.Fucking hell Brett Ratner managed to make a better Lecter film.

Uuugghhh. my Laptop screen nearly cracked just displaying Brett Ratner name!

I've avoided watching Hannibal because I have a strong feeling it'll spoil my high appreciation of Silence of the Lambs. I actually laughed when I read about the dinner scene. That's not a good sign.

Given how popular T1 and T2 are, I imagine thousands, if not millions of people are.

Agreed and I still enjoyed T4. Not because it's in any way as good as T1/T2 or other directors couldn't have done a better job but because it's good action blockbuster. Why is Salty so thick to get this?
saltysam wrote:Seems like it's Cameron or no-one for you guys.
Cameron is the only one who's made excellent Terminator films. That's the only reason he's being mentioned. Obviously others can do as a good or a better choice. Given his previous work, I have little faith in Justin Lin being able to pull it off. The Terminator story is strong.
saltysam wrote:Him returning to the franchise would be no guarantee of a return to the franchise's glory days.
Agreed.

Please sure me where I've ever rated a film I've not seen? You have no idea how many films I watch, just because I don't feel the need to review every one of them. I very rarely see a rubbish film, why? Because I do believe if 9 out of 10 people say a film is rubbish, it probably is.

I've never said a film is a dud based on a trailer. Again show me where I have? I've said it looks rubbish but that's hardly the same.

Not the case. No no no. In my experience most people don't have a clue about what makes a good movie. I have an intuition based on all my movie watching, reading up and wot not. If I think a movies gonna be worth a watch and I'm hearing bad things about it, I usually want to see it just as much, if not more than before. And my intuition usually conquers over silly peoples opinion!
