Post by Mordib »

Well, i'm home alone this weekend (well i normally am but i dont normally get monday off too :D) and i'm thinking i should celebrate with a bit of a marathon. However, since the weekends all about relaxing I don't want to stress myself making the decision, so you guys can choose for me :D

Only the last 2 I'd want to do and only the last I'd end up doing. I've case my vote.

Your brain will be mush by the end of it but hey sod it. "Lost Highway" is rubbish IMO, it doesn't even come close to the masterpiece that is "Mulholland Drive".

for me lost highway is my favorite lynch creation after dune and twin peaks. I think a combination of patricia arquette and a great soundtrack just pushed it above mulholland drv in my list. Lynch and Aronofsky are my two favourite directors and eternal sunshine of the spotless mind reminds me of Aronofsky's style hence why it was added to the list. blue velvet missed out because whilst i think its great its a different style of movie to the others IMO.

anyway, its late and I think i'm rambling...

OMG but it was weird for the sake of being weird, was badly made and put simply a mess. That's just me though.

I've only seen it and MD out of his films. I have Blue Velvet R1 and need to get around to watching it.

I'd never do the last. Requiem for a Dream is one of the biggest pieces of brain-washing, propoganda-like SHIT I've ever seen in my life. And a complete piece of cinematic shit.

If I were you I'd just watch a couple of movies I havent had the time to see yet. And/or perhapsa cool mini-series, and then miz that up with some cool gaming...

For me it will be movies and a bit of xboxing... probably SSX3 or perhaps Knights of the Old Republic.

wow, i've met plenty of people who have disliked requiem for a dream but i've never heard it described as 'one of the biggest pieces of brain-washing, propoganda-like SHIT I've ever seen in my life. And a complete piece of cinematic shit.' :D

i'm totally intrigued at how it is either brainwashing or propaganda?? surely the only message the film tries to put accross is that dreams dont always come true, especially when drugs are involved!? ;) Personally I feel it is one of the greatest audio visual experiences ever put on dvd :D

ps. i got through requiem, mulholland drv, and then got distracted into watching the devils backbone and big fish :P

Well... although I agree with the fact that drugs are bad for you, they went TOTALLY overboard in this flick, with everyone touching it being turned straight into a complete waste of a human being. Now... apart from that not being a realistic portrayal, since many people do drugs without getting as bad as all the peeps in this movie, the acting was also way overboard, especially from the annoying old mother getting addicted to those painkillers or whatever they were. one of the most annoying actresses if ever I saw one. The rest of the cast really wasnt much better.

I can see why some people think this is a masterpiece, with the 'weird' editing and non-hollywood ending etc... but when you look past that, all you see is a mediocre acting in a way unrealistic movie which might be suited for scaring kids from using drugs, but is a complete waste fo time for everyone else...

If you wanna see a more realistic drugsflick, which is also entertaining, balanced and with great acting, go see (kicks in open door here) Trainspotting.

It's been a while since I've seen it, but I bet Basketball Diaries also gives a slightly better view about drugs and it's addicts... (plus again better acting)
