Crank 2 BD doesnt work on my player

Recently I rented Crank 2 BD but it didnt load properly, the picture lagged behind the audio and then a small portion of the menu appeared in the middle of the screen but not the full thing :icon_suspect:
I sent it back thinking it was broken and then I just got the same disc back again. I've never had a disc not play like that before so I wondered if it was a firmware issue (My player plays everything else AFAIK) :(

As you've got the same disc back, you should complain. It could still be a faulty disc. Is it scratched?

Looked pretty dirty to me with fingerprints etc :(
After sending it back once for cleaning and then getting the same one I didnt want to complain more so rented the DVD now.

I had the exact same problem when I rented it, I have a Sony S350 and in that (and I believe many other) player's case you needed to have a memory card inserted into the player so the Crank 2 BD could load files onto it. I've read the same reports about the Region A disc as well.

Shame they release any discs that are shite like this and wont work with all players, Avatar was just as bad and look how big that was.

Still the Crank 2 is amazing and the sound and pictures quality, so hell its worth it.

I think a lot of Sony Blu player users had this problem...PS3 wasn't an issue due to the extra memory

Annoyingly (to save cash) most players are still not getting released with enough memory. You're expected to provide your own, by way of sticking a USB stick in the front. My LG BD Player hasn't got enough memory but so far this has just meant I cannot access BD Live content. As I frankly don't care, I've not bothered to put a USB stick into the front.

If memory is the problem, stick a blank USB stick in the front Grim (or at least one with lots of free space). That will boost the players memory and could fix the problem.

If it's a memory specific issue. It's not entirely their fault. They're being held back by the hardware makers.

If memory is the problem, you will with this disc. Memory is always the first thing they remove to cut costs. In terms of hardware components, memory is one of the most expensive things (even if it's not actually expensive at all).

For the record I've only had one problem disc: Elizabeth: The Golden Age UK HD-DVD. It refused to load but could be a problem disc. I was selling it anyway. Otherwise 100% disc playback success rate. This is with my LG Blu-ray/HD-DVD Combo Player.

If you still have the disc, stick in a memory stick and see if it fixes the problem.

Most titles that require more memory still load the disc. So it's certainly bad the disc cannot even load. In my experience I get an error when trying to playback BD Live extras but the disc has loaded, so I don't care.

p.s - You've not got your BD Player connected to the web right? If not, BD Live is a non-stater.

You're right, it isnt connected to the web and the disc might as well have not loaded - all I got was a postage stamp sized menu in the middle of the screen where the menu should be :D
I sent it back though.

Crank 2 played fine on the Tevion, as did Avatar.

Interesting. I wonder how much memory the Tevion has, assuming it is a memory problem of course.
