The Cardigans

Post by gasteropod »

Anyone here a fan? I've been listening to them constantly for the past few weeks, bought all their albums. I hadn't listened to them before apart from obviously their hit singles 'Love Fool' and 'My Favourite Game' back in the day, I never realised they were a genuinely great band, their albums are sooo good. I believe they're on hiatus at the moment, I hope they release another album in the near future, they've quickly become one of my favourite bands.

P.S. Nina Persson is hot, in both body and voice :D

Amazing when they get it right, it is a joke they never became bigger.

Gran Turismo was a superb album, but Long Gone Before Daylight is just perfection, the mind boggles that this album never got them any hit singles! what world are idiot music buyers on!

They will have a new album around the corner, and recetly had a greatest hits out as well :) the last album was fairly quiet, not a big hit sadly, mind you it was not their best work, but hey here is to hope.

Not sure if you know but Nina Persson is also out Solo doing work away from The Cardigans, as A CAMP (odd name) she has had 2 albums out, the first one was quality, the second a bit of a let down. But if you like her voice give A CAMP a try as well

Yeah I've heard some of their songs, I'm sure I will purchase their stuff in due time :) Funnily enough, I got the impression that their second album was better from what I'd read, but fair do's!

Yeah, Long Gone Before Daylight is the latest one I've been listening to as it was the last CD to arrive, I've got it on right now actually. I've found this album to be the most of a grower out of all their albums, I didn't take to it instantly but it seems to be getting better with each listen like many great albums do. I really like Super Extra Gravity actually, well to be fair I really like all of their albums hah.

They always seemed lumped into "Pop" on the radio and TV, and everyone think of Lovefool as what they are about, when really they are bugger all like that most the time :D

I just hope they tour again soon, as I want to be in the front row :D

I have not put on all their albums for a while, I feel a every song by the Cardigans day at work tommrow

I'm a fan and have:

1. Gran Turismo - Great
2. Super Extra Gravity - Good, not as good as Gran Turismo

I've not heard anything else.

It did well in Sweden but like Lene Marlin, they took way too long to capitalise on the success. 5 Years is way too long, UK buyers are often fickle.

Is anyone here an A-ha fan?

"Analogue" is excellent, "Lifelines" is good too. I don't like their latest "Foot of the Mountain" so much, mostly because they've returned to their pop roots. I prefer their rockier sound of the prior two albums. All of their work is on Spotify:

Get Long Gone Before Daylight heard, it blows both them albums away, and is nothing at all like either of them, so almost to hard to say what it is like :D

That's the first CD I had by them so it kinda feels like my favourite in a way too, it often seems that the first album you listen to and get to know by a band will end up being your favourite of theirs.

Hey guys I've been re-exploring The Cardigans and just picked up the original Swedish version of the 'Life' album - the wiki explains the diferences well, but I'll just say it's an essential listen for any fans

Ok well it's worth getting hold of a copy!

Check this exquisite cover of Thin Lizzy's 'The Boys are Back in Town'
