Another example of rip off Britain. DVD prices are NOT cheaper online, they're decent. It's the high street shops that continue to rip us off. Popping into HMV and I'm always staggered how much they charge. £20 for 1 DVD/BD!
Online DVD prices to rise, abolishes VAT loophole!

Dicks, ah well at least it says HMV.com should still be OK, I use them probably the most nowadays.

Bummer. I do most of my buying online for stuff like games, dvd's and such. Would be a rotten shame if prices would go up.
Obviously, that would just mean I would buy less. I pretty much never buy a DVD over 10 euro anymore cause I know it will be much cheaper pretty soon enough. Same goes for games obviously.

I was there, the big BNB blackout of november, 2008. We lost many that day...

Try £30 for a Blu Ray in HMV
your store must be cheaper than ours.

Our HMV is selling Hancock (BD) for £35. No shit.
They have a copy of the BD for National Treasure 2 that says £30 BOGOF. So that would be £15 each if you buy two stickered titles. Except right behind the £30 item is a copy that's stickered £8. Seriously. They rip off the public and don't even give a shit if they're caught out.
Last week Elm St DVD Box £10. Went in on Monday and it had doubled to £20. Over the weekend. Crazy ass shit.
"The Treasury is now keen to claw back the estimated £110m it loses every year to this practice"
Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to know that everytime I buy a DVD in the UK those wasteful fuckers get a cut.

The In store prices are part of a promo, a joke promo as you can see where they more than double many prices, it is hilarious.
Simple really NEVER BUY FROM HMV IN STORE
ever. The online store is not the same company apparently, so order from them and put the stores on the streets out of work.

I don't want any store to go out of business... I like to browse and impulse buy sometimes. If they compete as best they can there's no problem. If they try to fuck the customer then there's a problem.

Ahh I only shop in stores when some fool gives me vouchers. I hate most stores as they are rip off's. I browse, thats about it, never buy.

Mine too but some are £20. They even have the odd one for a tenner in sale. Regardless the general point still stands.romerojpg wrote:Try £30 for a Blu Ray in HMVyour store must be cheaper than ours.
Same company, different division I imagine. There's no way it will be an entirely separate.romerojpg wrote:Simple really NEVER BUY FROM HMV IN STOREever. The online store is not the same company apparently, so order from them and put the stores on the streets out of work.
I bought Che Part 1+2 box set at the w/e from in-store HMV but I had a £20 voucher. I never would have otherwise.
Me too. I barely never look either, why go all that way, knowing you'll buy nothing?romerojpg wrote:I browse, thats about it, never buy.
Every single HMV in-store price can be beaten online, even at their own store. It took me ages to use the voucher as I knew I could get it less online. I ended up paying £7.99 (so £27.99), so only £3 more than the online price.
Specifically talking about CDs/DVDs/BDs I only ever do this abroad now. Online all the way! As to stores going out of business. If they're knowingly going ripping us off, screw them.Markgway wrote:I don't want any store to go out of business... I like to browse and impulse buy sometimes.

Some BDs in my local HMV are a tenner (eg The Matrix).
