Canadian Blu-Ray Releases...

Canada seems to release a lot of BD'S that haven't been released elsewhere yet or differ in content to already released titles.unfortunately they seem to find a way to botch most of them, incorrect aspect ratios,region-locking, extras-free seem to be the norm. I have 3,Nightmare On Elm St,From Dusk Till Dawn & Freddy Vs Jason, the transfers are ok but there are no extras and with the exception of Dawn are region locked.Correct Ratio though...other Canadian releases either out or coming that i know about...

I noticed this too Salty. I have my eye on 21 Grams. It has no extras (but then the DVD has only ever had a small making of) but is 1080p and DTS-HD MA.

21 Grams and Seven are said to be made for TV HD Rips but 21 Grams is in the correct aspect ratio and 1080p, because of the AR fuck up I've ignored Seven. I'm sure it's not cropped though but open matte. Check out the DVD Beaver captures.

Graduate and Pianist I already have on decent HD-DVD.

When you say cropped, you mean opened up, the images of Seven ai saw were opened up to reveal more image, not cropped.

DOA: Dead or Alive  classy shit.

It's still not the intended presentation of the filmmakers, so it's entirely worthless regardless.

That 21 Grams price is good, much less than importing.

Blade blu-ray is cropped to 1:78:1

Yup Blade is a disc I will kill someone for if they dont give us an amazing disc in HD. Cropping the sides off is total bollocks in this case.

To add insult to injury apparently the transfer is otherwise stunning.

Ahh we know it will come in the end, I would not go near the Canadian releases with a barge pole anyway, cheap and knocked up with no real thought really, esspecially extras wise. They remind me of cheapo asian versions :D

Well I also supect many of the Canadian releases are rushed picture wise as well, I would rather see which looks best :) Like Sin City for instance, which the real out of Canada releases beat image wise, by only a little, but still :D

Transfer looks fine,if you remember this is a dark and gloomy film so was never going to stun on BD.Certainly a decent upgrade from the dvd. i paid £11.99 at playusa.

Thanks. It seems £11.99 at Playusa is the way to go.
