In what way does re-editing your movie for the MPAA count as a win??

That's what I thought but we both know they'd never let it get released NC-17. The MPAA's a joke.

My god this is 18! Borat was a 15. It was pretty heavy humour.

Rather oddly it passed uncut 18. The film-makers then decided to cut it by 1.16 minutes and it passed again uncut 18:

It looks like despite being uncut 18 anyway, we're getting the MPAA R rated cut .

I'll be seeing this, it looks hilarious.

The second submission was cut to remove a scene with LaToya Jackson talking about Michael. It was felt to be in poor taste given the latter's untimely death. I expect it'll end up on the DVD/BD release. No censor cuts except those already made for the 'R'.

They should never cut stuff just becuase someone died, if he thought little of them and took the piss out of them in life, we can take the piss in death just the same.

The LaToya scene could end up as a deleted scene on the DVD as Mark said, I can see why it would be seen in poor taste if Cohen said something rude/offensive.
The film does look funny though, Borat was hilarious

I'm slightly interested. I'm not really a fan of the Bruno character, as I feel he isn't as funny as Borat and Ali-G, but I'm sure there will be scenes which will be very funny. I liked some of the clips I've seen

I'd never heard of Bruno, is he a new character? I knew Borat/Ali G before the Borat movie.

Bruno is an overly gay-character, very much a sppof image of what you'd think off: adores designers and fashion, waxes his bodyhair, has a boyband-hairdo, overly-gay behaviour and speech, etc.

I much prefer the fake gay spoof Hard-Gay (youtube him), from Japan, cause with hard Guy th humour is smart, but it isn't just all about 'damaging' the 'victims'. With Bruno, and Borat, the 'victims' are mostly unaware and put in an uncomfortable position, which can be very funny but also at times seems a bit unfair and 'easy'. With Hard-Gay, it's much more 'respectful' towards the 'victims'.

The sketch is good - like Borat, Bruno exposes homophobia and racism "I'm not to hot on your right to hold hands with your boyfriend but as long as you stay away from my kids...."
That football player was too serious, he didnt get the joke.

Thanks Mark. I liked the Ali G TV show but the movie was hideous. Borat was funny though, although the Kazakhstan sections were dubious to put it lightly. Bruno looks even funnier.

Bruno's actually one of Cohen's earliest characters, I remember him off the short comedy sketches The Paramount Channel would run between repeats of US sitcoms back in the late 90s. Most of today's biggest UK comedians got their first semi-high profile TV gigs there.

I read on a Teletext article that Bruno will be edited even further - to get a 15 rating. The 15 version will be released on July 24. However, it won't replace the 18 version and it will be the first time 2 versions of a film with a different rating have played cocurrently in the UK (I think).

Universal were upset that so many cash cows, er, teenagers were being turned away from cinemas. Seems an extra 1:50 will be removed for the '15' version. Jeez, just wait for the fucking DVD.

Make sure you see the longer '18' version. If the '15' version makes more money it'll just encourage studios to cut more adult movies.

I've found Borat and Bruno to be two of my best cinema experiences though, with everyone in there laughing out loud it's just not the same atmosphere watching it at home.

I'd have loved to see Borat in the cinema now, it was fun watching with a mate but as you say, different experience in the cinema.
